NiP vs. Astralis Betting Preview

The European division of the ESL One: Road to Rio event continues today with a very interesting matchup. Two of the leading teams in Group A will clash once again after their recent meeting at the Pro League.

The Ninjas took care of business back then but the Danes remain one of the top teams on the scene and can decimate any opponent on their day.

My NiP vs. Astralis betting preview for today provides a prediction and a free pick based on the teams’ current form and some key stats.

But first, let’s look at what the top CS:GO betting sites have rolled out.

Let’s move on to my analysis and see where these teams are right now.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

The Ninjas have had an inspiring start to life in the ESL One qualifiers. They were handed a tough matchup against Vitality in the first round but were able to edge their opponent.

The win seems to have provided the Swedes with a lot of confidence as they comfortably dispatched Dignitas and ENCE to top Group A.

Statistically, they have been the best team at the event but we also have to account for the fact that the schedule has been a bit lenient so far.

Plopski and REZ will now be facing the elite starting today and we’ll see whether this team is ready to tussle at the top level.

Team Astralis

After the disappointing end to their ESL Pro League campaign, Astralis started the European qualifiers well by handing Complexity Gaming a 2:1 beating.

A few players were feeling rusty but it was a game that had to be won and it bodes well for the team that they were able to clinch it despite not being at their best.

A Scandinavian derby loomed in the second round and ESL Pro League champions Fnatic showed much more resilience in their approach to take another big win over their rivals.

It’s not entirely unexpected for gla1ve and his team to start these events on the slow side but we know full well how they can improve in the blink of an eye.

Today will be a test for that and I expect the Danes will be ready for it after being blown away by NiP in the last meeting.

NiP vs. Astralis Betting Prediction and Pick

I want to say that maps will play a huge role here but both teams will have a chance to play on a preferred one. Looking at their respective records, NiP will probably move to wave Overpass, whereas Astralis should ban Mirage once again.

Even with that, the Ninjas still have an advantage on both Inferno and Vertigo and are in their best form in a while.

I feel Astralis will want revenge but I’m not sure they will immediately jump to their highest gear and NiP’s tactics can make things very uncomfortable.

I back the Danes to edge this but given that the odds for them are too short and the tie will probably be mightily close, I’m going for a three-round match and the great price for the Over 2.5 market.
