Nigma vs. Vikin.gg Odds, Prediction, and Pick for April 16th – ESL One LA, EU, and CIS

The teams are pretty close in the Group A standings right now and today’s result may bring them even closer. This means there are some great betting opportunities here so let’s start with that.

The odds below are taken from SportsBetting. Here is what the bookmaker has rolled out:

Nigma is sitting higher up the Dota 2 rankings so it’s no surprise that they are given the advantage here. However, recent form suggests that Vikin.gg may not be as doomed as the odds portray.

The team has racked up three wins in their last five ESL One matchups including solid displays against HellRaisers and B8. These are opponents that Nigma is pretty much expected to beat and it was good for them to get those victories under their belts but there have been some worrying signs as well.

While the loss against the flawless Virtus.pro can be forgiven, the team also allowed Gambit to swoop in and pound them 2:0.

That has left them with an overall record of 3-3 and today’s matchup will be very important for Nigma’s playoff aspirations. There are zero margins for error right now and they will have to come up with the goods here.

The Vikings also lost to Virtus.pro but have been a tad more consistent than Nigma in their displays. Their only other defeat came in a tight matchup against HellRaisers and there have been some top performances, especially against second-placed OG.

The team may hold a lower ranking than their opponents but have shown terrific form and will be going into this tie full of confidence. With the way they are doing in other tournaments as well, I won’t rule out a surprise result here.

Nigma is pushed against the wall and they will have to come up with the resources to beat a very solid team in Vikin.gg. They certainly have the quality to do it but their recent form is a bit troubling as they can’t seem to fully assert themselves against lesser opposition.

They can, of course, still nick this one but it’s going to be a big challenge. Vikin.gg is on a five-match winning run if you count games in other events so they will not just lie down.

Given all that, I am inclined to back the Over 2.5 market here. I can’t see a convincing win for any of the two teams, so this should be settled on three maps.
