NFL Win Total Betting – Predicting Chiefs’ Wins in 2020

Kansas City Chiefs Win Total Predictions for 2020 - Betting NFL Win Totals

Thanks to the superiority displayed by Patrick Mahomes, the monkey has finally been lifted off of Andy Reid’s back. The Chiefs proved they were the best team in football by powering their way to the Vince Lombardi Trophy, and they’re coming back hungry for more.

As we turn the page to 2020, betting on KC to defend their Super Bowl title is among the most popular futures bets being placed. Likewise, the Kansas City Chiefs win total predictions in 2020 are receiving a whole bunch of action.

Does the value lie with slamming the over, or is a bet on the under warranted?

Let’s take a look.

Chiefs’ Win Total Over/Under

Over 11.5 Wins -145
Under 11.5 Wins +115

You can see just how close the top NFL sportsbooks online were to installing the Chiefs’ win total at 12 games. Offering +115 on your money backing “under 11.5 wins” might look good on paper, but let’s lift up the hood and investigate.

What I see is the same high-octane offense returning in full force, only they’ve added a new toy in Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The former LSU RB figures to be one of the best picks in the 2020 NFL Draft thanks to how perfect of a fit he’ll be in this offense. CEH gives Mahomes yet another weapon with supreme pass-catching abilities, plus it takes the pressure off of Damien Williams to have to carry the load.

I could rave about Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, and we know about the top-end speed that Mecole Hardman and Sammy Watkins possess. But nobody is questioning what KC can achieve on that side of the ball. I’d instead like to point out that the Chiefs’ defensive unit quietly held their own in 2019.

Kansas City ranked in the top 10 in the league in red zone defense and 12th stopping their opponent on third down. Their 16 interceptions were the fifth-most in the NFL.

As long as Patrick Mahomes is on the field, pencil this crew in for 12-14 regular-season victories.

Chiefs’ Exact Win Total

10-14  -225
5-9   +175
15-16  +1600
0-4   +2800

You don’t even have to be in a frisky mood to get behind the Chiefs winning 15-16 games. The +1600 price tag at BetOnline is more than enough reason to consider getting some money down betting on the Chiefs’ exact win total.

Nevertheless, KC landing between 10-14 victories is where my money is headed.

Kansas City kicks off the year by hosting the Texans in one of the most exciting Thursday Night Football games on the 2020 NFL schedule. However, a series of difficult road games lie ahead as the Chiefs must travel to Baltimore, Buffalo, Denver, Tampa Bay, and New Orleans.

The week 3 game versus the Ravens could very well be a preview of the next AFC Championship and is arguably the best MNF game in 2020. The games against the Buccaneers and Saints come in the midst of four road games in a five-week stretch.

Then consider the bullseye that Andy Reid’s group will have on their back in every game they play.

Add it up, and it’ll be an uphill battle trying to surpass 14 regular-season wins.

Betting on the Chiefs in 2020

I’m keen to bet on the Kansas City Chiefs’ win total predictions in 2020, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to betting on the Chiefs.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire makes sense as a pick to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, and Andy Reid could easily win the Coach of the Year.

Here are a few more betting markets to dip your toes into.
