New Online Slots for Mid December 2020 – Games from Microgaming, Yggdrasil, and Others
Two latecomers to the Christmas party, a Prince, an Empress, and valuable potions comprise the list of best new online slot releases for mid-December 2020.
I’ve chosen some larger than life games to focus on as 2020 is quickly coming to a close.
The Empress gets you the closest to classic slot gaming, as it starts with three rows and 30 pay lines, but it doesn’t stay there long. All of the other titles also play out on oversized reels.
I didn’t come across jackpot slots in this batch of new releases, but I think you’ll like the unique features that lead to significant payouts in the X10,000 range in a single spin.
So, read on, and I’ll introduce you to the latest cluster pay slots, a blizzard filled with wilds, and a snowball-throwing snowman.
Alchemy Fortunes – Hyper Clusters
In Microgaming’s new December slot release, Alchemy Fortunes – Hyper Clusters, the science is changing potions into cash.
The new collaboration by the gaming giant and all41studios produced a 7 x 7 cluster pay slot with a magical and mystical theme integrating special features into the formula.
While the name is Hyper Clusters, there’s nothing unusual about that component. Five symbols connected horizontally and vertically are enough to start a chain of events.
You’re paid for each cluster, and then the rolling reels take over, dissolving matching symbols and sending in replacements. The cluster symbols are everything in this game, though, as even your bonus future depends on them.
Filling Up With Winning Symbols
Every winning symbol in the hyper clusters is collected in a five-level vial. Whenever you reach a new level through successive rolling reels, you get a perk. You’ll start by swapping potions, then summon wilds, and remove low-pays.
The fourth level is the Alchemy of Wilds. Alchemy takes marks any wilds that land on the board and then change any symbols that hit those spots into wilds. Once you complete the fifth level, though, which is 100 symbols collected in a series of wins, you’re off to the Fortune Free Spins.
Level-up to Big Wins
Alchemy of Fortunes allows for 0.20 to 100.00 wagers and promotes a top per-spin win of X1,100 based on your total stake.
It also has some wild assistance to add to the winning ingredients. Up to six random wilds can appear at any time, and there’s a five-wild guarantee for each of the five free Fortune Spins.
I think you’ll like the design of the game and the level-up aspect. It can be challenging to hit level one, let alone five. However, I also found that this slot pays out smaller amounts, but they come out often.
If you’re like me and don’t like to see five or ten spins without a payout, you’ll appreciate Alchemy Fortunes.
Jingle Bells Power Reels
I’ve already put together a list of Christmas 2020 online slots if you’re in the mood for some festive slot gaming.
However, some studios, like Red Tiger Gaming, don’t hop on the early-season bandwagon.
Slot Tidings of Comfort and Joy
Red Tiger’s Christmas gift to players, Jingle Bells Power Reels, was just released in December. Its design is like a warm hug, making it the ideal accompaniment to a snuggly blanket and cup of cocoa.
Oversized 8 x 6 reels rest inside a beautifully decorated home with twinkling lights, a crackling fireplace, and a tall tree. Santa is doing his best to stay out of sight, and sometimes he’s too good. You want to see jolly old St. Nick, as he’s got some on-screen presents that’ll make you merry.
Santa’s Slot Gifts
Three snow globes send you into a Free Spins round where Santa’s gifts are on full display. He can push a 5 x 5 wild onto the board, which is doubly-helpful, as it’s the high-value symbol with X1,000 eight-of-a-kinds.
Santa also shakes the tree for multipliers and tiptoes across the reels, leaving winning combinations behind.
Jingle Bells Power Reels is a low-stakes game that only allows 0.20 to 10.00 wagers, and it’s played on 40 lines, even though the reels are super-sized.
Yggdrasil was also late to the Christmas party with its end-of-year slot release, Christmas Tree. However, I can’t be too harsh because it’s one of the best I’ve seen this season.
First, ponder something while I move forward and explain this particular game. What do you think about a snowman throwing snowballs?
Cluster Pays on a Tree
The snowman situation is unusual. But it’s part of the fun of Christmas Tree, a cluster-pay game set on a pyramid-shaped, decorated tree. It’s only one of the events, though, as there’s quite a bit to each spin.
You’ve got a mirror of miracles displaying free spins, bet win, or multiplier. If you get a series of three or more cascading wins, then you get your gift. Those wins come from clusters of five or more that are connected along the lines of tree lights.
Surprise Blizzards and Snowball Fights
While all of the expected is happening, there are some random occurrences as well.
The snowman can hurl snowballs at the tree, turning a symbol and all occurrences of it wild. And, when you come up short on wins, a blizzard can whip up out of nowhere, leaving behind mystery wilds.
Christmas Tree is also a low-stakes game with a range of 0.40 to 40.00. It could be a bargain for all of the festive fun and potential payouts worth as much as X1,500 in a single cluster.
Quickspin’s new online slot, Crystal Prince, was released at the end of November. But I chose to hold off on introducing it, as I previously focused on the studio’s Big Bad Wolf Christmas Special release.
Crystal Prince is an excellent accompaniment to this end of the year list, though.
Starting the Climb With 4,096 Ways to Win
The game is played on six reels with up to eight rows. However, you’ll start each new round with four lines of symbols.
When you hit a winning combination, they’re not going to zap away as they do in Christmas Tree. Instead, they add a new row and more chances to create winning combinations.
As long as you keep adding to the successful symbol matches, additional rows come into play. Once you hit number eight, though, it’s time for a feature storm.
Eight rows unlock the Blizzard seal and up to three Wild Frost Multiplier Wilds. That, in turn, also leads to Blizzard Mode. Winning symbols, wilds, scatters, and high values freeze, and the rest are replaced with new images.
The Crystal Prince can also award up to 20 free spins in a bonus with Wild Frost Multiplier Wilds and Wilds in every spin. Plus, if you’re in a rush, you can buy your way into the round with 60 times your stake.
Crystal Prince has a 0.20 to 100.00 betting range and a maximum per-game payout of X11,500. I recommend it for mobile play as it’s designed in portrait orientation. So, you can put the Prince in your pocket and take him out whenever you have some free time.
I thought it was the ideal segue to head from the Crystal Prince to the Arctic Empress.
Arctic Empress is Greentube’s December online slot release, and, like Crystal Prince, it centers around expanding reels. Unlike the Prince, though, the Empress pays a more confined game.
Expanding Rows in Both Directions
Instead of the adjacent ways wins, you’ll start with a 5 x 3 board and 30 paylines. The three active rows are in the middle of the screen, and wins will expand the action vertically in one direction or the other.
Every new row adds ten paylines. With the potential for nine rows of play, that’s a jump from 30 to 90 ways to win.
Additionally, though, Arctic Empress has a few unique modifiers. The howl of the wolf signals expanding wilds are about to appear. Free spins include ice reels that have multipliers attached. So, your bonus payouts can be multiplied by up to ten times.
Like Crystal Prince, Arctic Empress is an ideal choice for mobile play with its vertical orientation. Compare the two and see if the Empress or Prince reigns supreme.
New Online Slot Releases in Casinos Now
Patience doesn’t have to be a virtue when it comes to the new mid-December online slot picks. They’re all waiting for you right now in the top online casinos that carry their studio’s products.
It seems as if slot developers are going big at the end of 2020. All of the games veer away from the standard 5 x 3 formula and need extra real estate for creative new modifiers.
While I like how each of the five plays, as they’re all entertaining, I have to recommend Christmas Tree as my number one pick this time.
Christmas Tree has so much going on that you may not even notice a rise in your credit balance. It’s creative, visually appealing, fun to play, and has some excellent prizes under the tree.
