Movistar Riders vs. G2 Betting Preview, April 30, 2020

Group B of the ESL One European qualifiers sees surprise package Movistar Riders take on G2 Esports today.

The Spaniards have so far shocked us with how well they’re handling themselves at the top level, while the Frenchmen have further cemented their reputation as one of the quality CS:GO organizations in Europe.

This will be the first time these two teams meet and my Movistar Riders vs. G2 betting preview tries to find out which way this tie will tilt by looking at the betting odds, recent form, and key stats.

I then conclude with a free betting pick, so make sure you stay until the end.

Movistar Riders vs. G2 Odds

The below markets and prices are taken from BetOnline. Here is what the site has in store for us:

Match Winner

Movistar Riders +314
G2 -455

Map Advantage

Movistar Riders (+1.5) -104
G2 (-1.5) -122

Total Maps Played

Over 2.5 +130
Under 2.5 -167

Despite their amazing form, the Riders are not given much of a chance by the bookmakers. Let’s see if they are right to think that.

Movistar Riders Analysis

There was no telling how the Spaniards will look at this level but it’s safe to say they are exceeding all expectations right now.

Their opening 2:0 win against mousesports was a huge statement and the team racked up another solid victory against struggling c0ntact.

They couldn’t defy the odds against FaZe Clan but still managed to take the first round with a resounding 16:9 scoreline on Overpass.

The loss shouldn’t rattle steel and his teammates one bit, as there were a lot of positives to take away in a clash against one of the top organizations on the continent.

Looks like living among the CS:GO elite is not so scary after all.

G2 Esports Analysis

The Frenchmen didn’t make it far in the Pro League but have started the ESL One qualifiers brightly.

They quickly dispatched GODSENT on the first matchday and were also able to beat Copenhagen Flames which is a good sign after the team looked a bit jaded in the defeat against FaZe.

Despite losing their toughest matchup, they are one of the positive squads so far and captain nexa’s tactics on a wide range of maps, plus huNter-‘s kill stats make them a threat to any organization.

Movistar Riders vs. G2 Prediction and Pick

G2 is by far the better and more experienced team here. However, it will be a mistake to outright dismiss the Riders.

They have shown they can tackle the top teams and their huge win against FaZe on Overpass means they can be deadly on their preferred maps.

The Frenchmen will need to be careful during the pick and ban phase and if they make the right decisions, they can end this quickly on several maps.

However, I’m leaving the door open for Movistar if they get either Overpass or Mirage. A win in the first round will be enough to make them comfortable and put the pressure on the Frenchmen.

I still think G2 will win this one but steel and ALEX’s form is brilliant right now and they have a real chance given how their opponent traditionally lacks a bit of ruthlessness in the final stages.

I’m going for a two-round game here which will cover a 2:0 victory by both organizations.
