Monday Night Football DFS Picks and Lineup Advice – Bills vs. Patriots (Week 16, 2020)

The Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots clash on Monday Night Football in week 16, giving NFL fans, bettors, and DFS gamers an otherwise meaningless game.
New England has been eliminated from the NFL playoffs, and the Bills have clinched the AFC East. So, as far as the NFL itself goes, there’s not much interest here.
This is why betting on the game or building a lineup for MNF DFS Showdown contests is going to be so popular. For the former, check out this Bills vs. Patriots week 16 betting pick.
I’ve got you covered from the daily fantasy football side of things. Join me as I break things down with my favorite Monday Night Football DFS Showdown picks.
Top Showdown Picks for MNF
- Josh Allen, QB, Bills ($12.6k)
- Stefon Diggs, WR, Bills ($11k)
- Zack Moss, RB, Bills ($7.4k)
I’m on Team Bills here. I’m curious to see if Buffalo rests any of their guys, but with a chance at the second overall seed in the AFC, I tend to doubt it.
Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs are putting up gaudy numbers, and the two have proven to be pretty matchup proof.
Moss is honestly my favorite play here, though, especially since I get the feeling he’ll go overlooked. He’s seen 13 carries in two straight games and faces a Pats defense getting gashed (4th most fantasy points allowed to running backs the last four weeks) lately.
I thought the Patriots were turning a corner defensively, but then they fell apart the past two weeks.
Cole Beasley is either incredibly active out of the slot, or he’s a ghost. I don’t know which he’ll be on MNF, but he’s in the conversation of being one of the best plays.
I’m leaving Cam Newton off this list, as he could be benched at any moment. He’s obviously a very solid play if you believe his job is safe, but in a game the Bills are projected to win, I don’t see why we should buy into that.
There are a few other guys who stand out as viable options to potentially slide in the Captain slot. Jakobi Meyers probably tops that list, while Devin Singletary could be the perfect pivot off of Zack Moss.
You can also pair them together, or you can go against the grain and pay for a Patriots running back. Whatever you do, I’d prioritize at least two of the guys in my list above for most of your week 16 MNF DFS Showdown lineups.
Best MNF Showdown Sleepers
- Jarrett Stidham, QB, Patriots ($6k)
- Dawson Knox, TE, Bills ($5.6k)
- Gabriel Davis, WR, Bills ($5k)
- Damiere Byrd, WR, Patriots ($4k)
- John Brown, WR, Bills ($2.8k)
He won’t be a sleeper if he gets the nod ahead of the game, but I really like Stidham (if you’re maxing out contests) as an under the radar play in the event Cam Newton gets benched.
Stidham hasn’t been particularly good, but he’d be easy access to points with the Pats likely playing from behind.
If you don’t want to go that route, you can fire up cheap Bills like Knox or Davis. Davis can pay off with one deep shot, while Knox has been getting more involved lately.
Of course, John Brown is the real target here, assuming he can make it back.
The #Bills have ability to activate John Brown off I-R as late as 4 pm Monday.

There’s also Byrd and maybe even N’Keal Harry, especially since the Pats should eventually take it to the air as they try to rally in this one.
New England’s passing game has just been awful all year, though, so if we can side with Buffalo as much as possible…
My Favorite Week 16 MNF Lineup
- Captain: Zack Moss, RB, Bills ($11.1k)
- FLEX: Josh Allen, QB, Bills ($12.6k)
- FLEX: Stefon Diggs, WR, Bills ($11k)
- FLEX: Dalton Keene, TE, Patriots ($1.4k)
- FLEX: James White, RB, Patriots ($6.2k)
- FLEX: Jakobi Meyers, WR, Patriots ($7.2k)
If you can make it work, I’d certainly side with Bills players more in this matchup.
That said, I love Zack Moss as a (likely) contrarian Captain. He won’t be unowned across the board, but most MNF DFS Showdown lineups will want to feature Josh Allen or Stefon Diggs in the top spot.
For good reason, of course, but it could pay to be a bit different there, plus it opens up a little more salary.
I’ll still gladly roster Allen and Diggs, who both could still feast in this matchup.
Elsewhere, I’ll just snatch up New England pass-catchers. I won’t pay for Newton. He’s been bad, and I think he gets benched for good at some point in this game.
That has me liking Stidham a good deal, and if you agree, you can pivot off of White a bit, or make other alterations. Regardless, White and Meyers could see a good amount of work in the passing game, while Keene saw over 50% of the team’s offensive snaps a week ago.
He’s a fine punt. If we get confirmation that John Brown is in or Stidham gets the nod, I’d prioritize both. For now, I love Allen/Diggs in whatever capacity you prefer, and I really like Moss to run all over a bad New England run defense.
The Pats will play catch-up and hopefully the three receiving options can be assets.
Summary
Trying to come to the best Monday Night Football DFS Showdown picks for week 16 isn’t easy, just because so much can change in a span of one day.
I’m pushing these picks out early so you can process the slate, but unless something crazy happens, I am building lineups with the belief that Buffalo wins this game easily.
Allen/Diggs should be a big reason why early, while Moss should feast in this matchup throughout the contest. New England will have to throw, so hopefully this all pieces together to be a pretty contrarian (and rewarding) MNF DFS Showdown lineup.
