The Phase 2 grand final in Group B of the inaugural Flashpoint tournament promises to be a highly entertaining affair.

Brazilian organization MIBR has been quite impressive at the event so far, while Americans Gen.G have improved after some tentative performances in Phase 1.

Unsurprisingly, MIBR’s impressive performances so far make them the favorite here. But can the Americans defy the odds and improve on their past record against the Brazilians?

The Brazilians were handed a heavy loss by Chaos at the start of the tournament, but have been unstoppable ever since.

They made their way to the Phase 1 grand final after annihilating both Envy and Gen.G, and then got their revenge after dominating Chaos on Overpass and Dust II.

Phase 2 has seen them brush aside Orgless and clinch another win against Gen.G.

The team has had some poor results in other tournaments lately, but Flashpoint has been a happy hunting ground for them. They sit on top of the rankings with 125 points and will enter their third meeting with Gen.G full of confidence.

Captain FalleN has led his teammates expertly and fer definitely has a shot at the MVP award. I feel TACO and meyern can still kick it up a notch, but overall, the team is looking scary right now.

The American organization has probably exceeded expectations so far. They produced some great performances which saw them beat teams like Dignitas and Envy twice.

They did record a heavy loss against Chaos and are so far unable to unlock MIBR, but have racked up 80 points which will see them enter the playoffs as the 5th seed.

They are still some way off from the big favorites, but the numbers from BnTet, automatic, and s0m proves that the team belongs to this level.

Losing against MIBR twice already makes this game a daunting task. But it’s also true that the team racked up double digits in every losing round against the Brazilians and did outplay them 16-8 on Dust II.

A big performance from captain daps will be needed here, but I’m definitely not dismissing Gen.G’s chances. After all, third time’s the charm.

On paper, MIBR should be winning this easy. They have been relentless at Flashpoint so far and have won four of their last five meetings with Gen.G.

However, the Americans boast a better record on four maps. It will be a tough mental task going against MIBR once again, but I feel they have learned their lesson and will pose a bigger threat this time around.

The Brazilians will probably still edge this one, but I’m backing Gen.G to make them work hard for the W. With their improved form and excellent win percentages on Inferno, Nuke, Train, and Mirage, this should go to a third round.
