The runaway league leaders will look to finish off a very successful Clausura season by beating Walter Ferretti and flying into the semifinals of the playoffs.

The visiting side has already qualified for the postseason itself, but there might be a spot of revenge in mind after it lost on penalties to Managua at the Apertura semifinal stage last year.

Although BetOnline has Managua as the odds-on favorite to win this game, I would not have been surprised to see much longer odds for a Walter Ferretti win. I don’t expect the visitors to put up too much of a fight here, as their playoff position is safe, and the players might already be focused on the next game after this one.

Managua has finished the Clausura season in style and will make it 12 games without defeat if it can avoid that outcome against Walter Ferretti. After the disappointment of losing the Apertura final to Real Esteli, it looks as though Managua is hungry for more titles and looks like the best team in Nicaragua at the moment.

Even though the three most recent games have all been against teams from the other end of the table, it has been noticeable that Managua has been the only side to keep up its form all the way through the campaign. A win here would cap off a very impressive regular season.

Walter Ferretti has been a lot more hit and miss than its hosts. But five wins in the last six games have given it the security of a playoff place and the outside chance of a top-two finish. If Fernando Villalpando can add to his league-high goal tally early on, then it could make the final table very interesting reading.

There is an array of scoring talent on display here, though. Players from these two teams make up the top five in the goal scorers list, and both sides have been able to find the net on over 30 occasions this season. This should be the most exciting game of the weekend.

The odds are not terrible for a home win here, and I feel as though Managua will want to keep its impressive unbeaten streak going into the playoffs. That will give it even more confidence of being able to beat any club that comes in its way. There may not be a repeat of the 6-1 mauling it handed out to Jalapa in the week, but a good home win should be the result here.
