It’s funny how the opening games of the KBO’s latest series were really close, while the second round brought us a couple of extremely one-sided matches. I share my impressions from Wednesday’s games here and use them as an integral part of my KBO predictions for Thursday.
As always, there are no picks or odds in this post because the lines of the bookmakers are yet to be released. The recommended betting sites below are among the first to react, so make sure to follow them for early prices.
And here’s the list of games that I cover in my KBO predictions.
KIA Tigers vs. KT Wiz Suwon
LG Twins vs. Hanwha Eagles
SK Wyverns vs. Doosan Bears
Samsung Lions vs. Lotte Giants
Kiwoom Heroes vs. NC Dinos
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat KIA Tigers
I thought that KIA should be able to contain KT Wiz on Wednesday once again, but I was wrong. The Tigers allowed too many hits and their batting was poor as well. Suwon comfortably won by 5-0 with an inning to spare and that should turn the whole tie upside down.
The Tigers lost the momentum and I don’t think they will be able to get it back on Thursday. I expect a closer game this time around, but KT Wiz Suwon is in a commanding position to register a second victory in the series.
LG Twins to Beat Hanwha Eagles
You won’t see too many games in which the Eagles are destroyed, but Wednesday was among the exceptions. We knew that the Twins can explode in any given match and we got another proof. The team completely dominated the game, hitting the ball and scoring for fun in most innings.
I don’t it will be that bad for the Eagles again on Thursday, but the Twins have all the confidence in the world right now. They should be able to find more than enough runs against the same opponent and since Hanwha struggles badly to score, another win is on the cards for LG.
Doosan Bears to Beat SK Wyverns
The Doosan Bears managed to win again on Wednesday, as I expected in my previous batch of KBO predictions. And yet, the game was extremely close and the Wyverns keep their opponent to only seven hits and four runs.
I’m not too confident in the favorite considering the poor batting in the first two games, but SK has been even worse when it comes to scoring runs. That’s why I feel obliged to back the Doosan Bears for another win on Thursday.
Lotte Giants to Beat Samsung Lions
The game that surprised me the most on Wednesday was between Lotte and Samsung. I expected a win for the Giants who seemed to have found a new resilient approach in the past couple of matches. It all collapsed when the Lions clicked on the batting end for the first team this season.
The final score was 11:1 and while it probably was a bit harsh to the Giants, there’s little doubt that Samsung was the much better side in terms of both batting and pitching.
I’m not sure what to expect on Thursday because both teams have been inconsistent lately. My gut feeling is that it will be a tight battle and I believe that the Giants are still stronger overall, so they might be able to bounce back.
NC Dinos to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
It’s funny how one of the more shaky displays by the Dinos in terms of pitching didn’t lead to any serious consequences. Despite allowing 11 hits, the league leaders won by 10:3 and never lost control over the game against the Heroes.
The main reason is the excellent performance on the other end that lifted any pressure. The Dinos were in complete control and I have little doubt that we will see something similar on Thursday.
Kiwoom’s excellent start in the KBO is now in the past and the team looks like one of the average sides in the league. The Heroes have lost three in a row and the streak should continue in round 21.
