KBO Predictions for Saturday, May 16, 2020

It’s time for another round of the KBO on Saturday. The leading baseball league in South Korea has been close so far and no team looks like a firm favorite for the title. There are a couple of sides have fallen behind, but they still have enough time to get back on track for the playoffs.

But enough of the long-term future, let’s try to figure out what will happen on Saturday in my KBO predictions. They cover the following scheduled for round 11 on May 16th.

  • Lotte Giants vs. Hanhwa Eagles
  • NC Dinos vs. SK Wyverns
  • Doosan Bears vs. KIA Tigers
  • Samsung Lions vs. KT Wiz Suwon
  • Kiwoom Heroes vs. LG Twins

Lotte Giants to Beat Hanhwa Eagles

Hanhwa knows how to turn a game into a slugfest and that’s exactly what the team did against Lotte. It doesn’t always work and we saw the Eagles lose a couple of close encounters, but the plan was spot on this time around.

The first game against the Giants was a tight affair that ended with a 2-1 victory in favor of the Eagles. It easily could’ve gone the other way, though, and that’s what I expect to happen on Saturday. That’s why I will start my KBO predictions by backing the Giants.

NC Dinos to Beat SK Wyverns

The kings of the tough victories have done it again! The NC Dinos had to go through an extra inning for the third time this week and won again. It wasn’t always pretty or easy, but I’m sure that the team cares mostly about winning.

The pitchers were once again the key to success against the Wyverns, as the opponent was held to only two hits and two runs.

The Dinos are the masters of suffocating the opposition and although they are not exactly prolific in their batting, it has been enough to bring success so far. I expect more of the same on Saturday, so NC is my choice.

Doosan Bears to Beat KIA Tigers

The Tigers managed to hold the Bears on Friday … for three innings. That’s when the champions took off and quickly finished their opponent. Doosan is the best batting team in South Korea and it’s hard to see how something could change in the second clash.

The Tigers don’t have the pitchers to stop the opposition and they are below average in the batting department. I simply can’t see a scenario that ends with a victory for KIA, so I’m going with the Bears once again.

KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Samsung Lions

I backed the Lions to win on Friday and it was all going well before the collapse of the century. The team 12 runs in four innings, including 8 in the 7th, and it’s hardly a surprise that KT Wiz won the game by 14:6.

All the momentum and the mental edge are with Suwon right now. On top of that, the Lions are unpredictable in a negative way and they can always shoot themselves in the foot. That’s why backing KT Wiz Suwon is the sensible choice.

LG Twins to Beat Kiwoom Heroes

The first game between the Twins and the Heroes has been postponed, so nothing changed much since my previous batch of KBO predictions. I still think it’s going to be a close match and LG has the momentum here.

The team hasn’t been flashy so far, but it managed to find ways to win against strong opponents like the Doosan Bears and the NK Dinos.

At the same time, the Kiwoom Heroes have hit a slump this week and their dominant displays from the start of the season are nowhere to be seen. That’s why I expect a win for the Twins on Saturday.
