KBO Predictions and Analysis for Round 4, May 8, 2020

It’s time for the fourth round of the KBO. The South Korean baseball league has shown a lot of promise early on and I believe we will see many more exciting games. For now, I present to you my KBO predictions for Friday, including quick reasoning for each game.

The mediocre preseason was followed by a mediocre start of the regular season for the Doosan Bears, but the champions have turned it around real quick. They look stronger in every game and the 9-3 win over the LG Twins was a display of their true power.

That’s bad news for KT Wiz Suwon. The team was hopeless against the Lotte Giants, losing all three encounters and I don’t see how anything could change for the clash with the Bears.

This is one of the easiest KBO predictions for Friday, in my opinion, because the favorite should be able to punish the shaky pitchers of Suwon with ease.

Those two were involved in two of the most entertaining games on Thursday. The Kiwoom Heroes started with a bang against the KIA Tigers before collapsing in the eight and allowing the opponent five runs that proved to be fatal.

The Eagles were on the other end of a similar experience, scoring six runs in the sixth to earn an unexpected victory over the WK Wyverns.

If we exclude these short periods of madness, I believe that Kiwoom Heroes have shown more so far and should be able to win on Friday.

I expected more by the SK Wyverns so far, but they failed to impress in the first three games against the Hanhwa Eagles. Their pitchers were stood strong in the opening two encounters which was enough for one closer victory.

The other two matches were lost and the collapse in the third one wasn’t pretty. I believe that the low morale will be a problem against the Lotte Giants who won all three of their games so far, completing 23 runs in the process.

In theory, the Wyverns should be able to put up a fight but I think that all the momentum is with the Giants here and I back them in my KBO predictions for Friday, May 8^th.

I thought that the NC Dinos might struggle in their third game against the Samsung Lions but they were excellent. Their pitchers limited the opponent to only five hits and two runs, while scored eight runs without a response to seal the match early on.

I believe they won’t have problems beating the LG Twins next either. The team started with a shocking victory against the champions from Doosan, but lost twice after that. The Twins don’t have the means to stop the opposition’s batting power, so a win for the Dinos makes the most sense here.

After some glimpses of hope in the preseason, I thought that the Samsung Lions will be solid. Instead, the team has been abysmal so far in the regular season, losing all three games against the NC Dinos and scoring only five runs in the process.

The KIA Tigers showed more up to this point of the KBO and even won the last clash against the Kiwoom Heroes. That should bring the team enough confidence and another victory is on the cards on Friday.
