KBO Predictions and Analysis for Round 3, May 7, 2020

The South Korean KBO brought us a lot of action this week already and the baseball league continues on Thursday, I share my KBO predictions for the following games in this post. If you are interested in more details about each clash, we also individual previews.

After failing to win even a single game in the preseason, the Hanwha Eagles surprised everyone by beating the SK Wyverns in the opening match. One of the strongest teams in South Korea was held to zero runs but the second game was different.

The Wyverns found a bit of form and went 4-0 up after the third inning, keeping the initiative until the end and winning by 5-2. I believe that the defeat was a good wake up call for the side and I expect another victory today.

The Lotte Giants were among the best teams in the preseason and their ability to score against anyone was truly impressive. They managed to carry the momentum into the regular season and beat KT Wiz Suwon comprehensively in the first two games.

The difference was five runs on both occasions and Wiz Suwon’s pitchers had no way to stop the opponent. I don’t see a reason to expect something different on Thursday.

The NC Dinos won both games against the Samsung Lions, but the second clash was really close. The Lions looked much better and if they can improve further on Thursday, they might snatch the victory.

Based on the preseason games and the batting problems of the Dinos, that’s a plausible scenario, so I’m backing Samsung to win this one.

The LG Twins opened the season with a huge surprise, beating the champions by 8-2 in the opener. The game was much closer than the score suggests, though, and the Doosan Bears bounced back with a 5-2 victory on Wednesday.

The team was on fire right from the start and was eager to restore some confidence. I expect more of the same on Thursday, so the Bears should be able to win once again and this looks like one of the easier KBO predictions for round 3 of the baseball league.

Another team that performed well in the preseason and started the regular one with a bang is Kiwoom. The Heroes beat KIA twice, although the second game was really close.

The Tigers are struggling hard in the batting department, though, so I believe they will be easy prey for their opponent once again. That’s why the last of my KBO predictions for Thursday is for a win in favor of the Kiwoom Heroes.
