HomeSweetHome Predictions and Betting Tips - Wk 2, Group C

The opening week of #HomeSweetHome brought us some excellent CS:GO clashes, and the start of the second one was promising, too. Group C is scheduled for April 16, and that provides plenty of betting opportunities.

My betting preview of the group features an overview of the teams and the schedule, as well as predictions and betting tips for each match.

Since the format is such that all encounters are on the same day, I will start with my picks for the opening games of Group C and add the rest later on Thursday. Simply come back here shortly after each round is finished to find my predictions for the next one.

Week 2, Group C Preview, Teams, and Schedule

Here are the teams that will take part in Group C during Week 2 of the #HomeSweetHome competition.

  • AGO
  • BIG
  • Smash Esports
  • Team Singularity

The winner from Week 1, BIG, is the big favorite here (pun intended!), while the rest of the teams disappointed and will be hoping for a better performance today. AGO and Team Singularity failed to reach the playoffs, while Smash Esports wasn’t invited.

Here’s what the schedule looks like.

Opening Matches

  • AGO vs. Smash Esports – 5 am Pacific time
  • BIG vs. SNG – 6:30 am Pacific time

Winner’s Match

  • Winner match A vs. Winner match B – 8 pm Pacific time

Elimination Match

  • Loser match A vs. Loser match B – 11 pm Pacific time

Decider Match

  • Loser Winner’s match vs. Winner Elimination match – 2 pm Pacific time

The opening matches are played on one map only until one of the teams wins 16 rounds. All of the others are in the best-of-three format. The top two teams progress to the playoffs.

HomeSweetHome Predictions and Betting Picks

This is where I share my predictions. Remember, guys, initially, you will see only the opening matches here, but I will add the rest of my picks once the ball starts rolling, so make sure to stay tuned for the late encounters.

Predictions for the Opening Matches of Group C, April 16

  • AGO to beat Smash -167
  • BIG (-5.5) vs. Team Singularity -124

I believe that AGO will overcome Smash in the first match. Despite finishing third in the first stage of the competition, the team beat Endpoint and pushed SKADE to the limit. Both sides are better than Smash, and the price of -167 is more than enough for me to back AGO here.

I have no doubts that BIG will beat Team Singularity in the second opening match, but the price of -500 is pointless. The handicap is set at -5.5 rounds, and I believe that the favorite can easily cover that against a Singularity side that was almost hopeless during Week 1.

Smash Esports vs. BIG Prediction and Betting Pick

I didn’t expect to see Smash Esports in the Winner’s match, but the team did well to beat AGO on Dust 2. It was a close encounter and the lack of huge mistakes by Smash made the main difference. Their opponent surrendered a couple of games after stupid errors and that was enough to win 16-14.

The next team they have to face is too strong, though, and I don’t think Smash can win this match. BIG had a flying start against Team Singularity that led to some complacency and a couple of lost rounds. The damage wasn’t too big, though, and BIG stepped up to close the match by a score of 16-9.

The team is miles ahead over the rest of the sides here and should be able smash Smash in the Winners’ Match. The odds I can find for a straight BIG victory are too low, but you can get -149 for the team to cover the -1.5 map advantage and that’s excellent value.

  • Pick: BIG (-1.5); -149

AGO vs. Singularity Prediction and Betting Pick

I’m sure that AGO will be extremely disappointed by the defeat against Smash in the opening encounter. The team had several good moments, but ultimately gifted too many rounds over the course of the match and lost 16-14.

The lack of consistency is hurting AGO but the team is still the favorite against Singularity. The opponent was beaten by BIG in the opener, but Celrate showed a lot of promise and some of his teammates had their moments too.

If AGO doesn’t improve significantly, I believe that Singularity can actually win this one. I see that Betway currently offers +295 for the underdog and that’s the best wager available, in my opinion.

  • Singularity to win; +295

BIG vs. Betting Pick and Prediction

BIG’s defeat against Smash Esports in the Winners’ Match was an absolute shocker and arguably the biggest upset of the tournament so far. The favorite started by beating the opponent comprehensively, but then somehow lost its map pick and was beaten again in the decider.

While Smash deserves a lot of credit, I think that BIG looked like a shadow of themselves. They probably underestimated the opponent after the easy win on the first map and paid a heavy price. And yet, the winners from Week 1 are still in it and will have another chance against AGO in the Decider Match of Group C.

The team is coming after a decent victory over Singularity, but the overall performance up to this point has been far from flawless. The lack of consistency has eaten a lot of rounds for AGO and the squad won’t be able to afford that against the enraged BIG.

I believe that the humiliating defeat against Smash will bring out the best of last week’s winner and AGO will get punished in the decider.

Pick
  • BIG (-1.5)
    -125
