Can Hertha keep up its incredible recent form and collect three more points from the visit of Augsburg to the Olympiastadion?

The appointment of Bruno Labbadia looks to have been a genius move by the Berlin club as it attempts to make it four unbeaten games in a row since the Bundesliga resumed action.

It is not surprising that BetOnline has made Hertha favorite to pick up three more points, as the Berlin club has been a revelation since the season resumed a few weeks ago. Augsburg’s results have not been too bad, but the odds for a home win are the only ones I would keep an eye on.

As impressive as the victories over Hoffenheim and Union were, the game against RB Leipzig on Wednesday was supposed to show Hertha up for what it was — a club enjoying a new manager bounce but still not able to mix it with the big boys of the Bundesliga. The 2-2 draw at the Red Bull Arena showed that view to be very far off the mark.

If anything, Bruno Labbadia’s side deserved to take all three points, even if it needed a late penalty to draw level after giving up an early lead. With a starting eleven that has been shaken up and players looking like they are enjoying themselves for the first time this season, Hertha is looking like it can compete with anyone right now.

That’s bad news for Augsburg, who could only manage a goalless draw at home with bottom-of-the-table Paderborn in its midweek game. That draw means that Augsburg is only four points off the relegation playoff spot now. Although the game was fairly even, it would not have been a surprise if Paderborn had gone on to win it.

This was the first game that Augsburg had failed to score in since the resumption of play, but Florian Niederlechner still had a few good opportunities to find the net for the first time since the start of February. Icelandic striker Alfred Finbogason is still out so much the team rely on Niederlechner to find his scoring boots quickly.

There’s just no stopping Hertha at the moment. There is a clear sense of optimism and confidence in the squad, and even the players who Labbadia has dropped to the bench since taking over have responded well when called upon. The Berlin club should be able to win this one quite comfortably and incredibly start thinking about possibly catching up with the Europa League challengers.
