Hang Yuen vs. Ming Chuan University Taiwan Premier League

Hang Yuen faces its second student team in two weeks as it gets ready to face Ming Chuan University this Sunday. Although the club from New Taipei lost a number of top players in the offseason, it has been a positive start to the new campaign.

MCU is still looking for its first win of the season after a difficult set of fixtures and a disappointing draw with NTUS.

In this betting preview, I’ll cover the odds, then provide you with my Hang Yuen vs. Ming Chuan University prediction and betting pick.

Latest Hang Yuen vs. Ming Chuan University Odds

Hang Yuen to Win-500
The Draw+562
Ming Chuan University to Win+961

Taiwan Premier League games can tend to be very one-sided as there are at least three clubs in the top flight that are way behind the rest in terms of talent and squad depth. Hang Yuen has finished third in each of the last three years, so the odds from MyBookie are not surprising at all. It would be a shock if this doesn’t end up in a win for the home side.

Hang Yuen vs. Ming Chuan University Match Preview

When Hang Yuen did little to replace Benchy Estama or Joo Ik-Seong in the offseason, it seemed as though we would not see a challenge for the league title this year, and there would not be many goals scored, either. But Hang Yuen has defied expectations and is unbeaten in the first three rounds of the year.

Brazilian Luan Anderson scored both goals against NTUS last weekend and will look to double up against student teams this Sunday. Another win for Hang Yuen would be the most likely outcome, but a better test of how good this side is will be the margin of victory.

That’s because Ming Chuan, like NTUS, will struggle this year. The weakest side in the Taiwan top flight looks like being Red Lions, but it will be a fight between the three of them as to who is relegated to the second tier at the end of the season.

MCU has traditionally been stronger than either NTUS or Red Lions, but the season has not gone particularly well so far. The opening day defeat to Taiwan Steel was promising in that the students were able to score twice, but performances have been largely forgettable since then.

Prediction and Betting Pick

  • Hang Yuen to Win

The odds for a Hang Yuen win are not really attractive enough to warrant a single win bet, but this game could be used as part of a parlay if you like placing multiple bets. Ming Chuan University might be able to raise its game and cause an upset, but the draw would be the only other possible outcome here in my opinion, and even that is unlikely.
