GODSENT vs. G2 Betting Preview

GODSENT and G2 Esports start their ESL One: Road to Rio in the European division today. Both teams have a good chance of advancing to the latter stages but how they fare today will be crucial.

The French team is more accustomed to playing at this level and will no doubt be a big favorite here but their opponents have performed admirably as of late and surely can’t be underestimated.

In this GODSENT vs. G2 betting preview, I explore what betting options have the top esports betting sites laid out and I make my prediction on that basis while also taking both teams’ current form into account.

GODSENT vs. G2 Odds

BetOnline has the event fully covered and here is what you can find in their sportsbook:

Match Winner

G2 -400

Map Advantage

GODSENT (+1.5) -118
G2 (-1.5) -109

Total Maps Played

Under 2.5 -161
Over 2.5 +126

The current world number 5 is understandably a heavy favorite here but can GODSENT prove to be a tough nut to crack today? Let’s do an overview of the teams’ recent exploits and try to figure out how to approach the betting angle.

GODSENT Current Form

The team couldn’t do much at the ESL Pro League and exited the tournament early after just two wins in five.

However, there are some positives that the team can away from navigating such a tough group and their recent displays at the DreamHack Masters have been impressive.

Captain hampus and his team are currently on a five-match winning streak with some solid wins against good teams like forZe, ENCE, and Spirit.

This can prove to be very beneficial as they are entering elite territory here and the confidence can do them a world of good.

G2 Esports Current Form

The organization may be flying the French flag but their two most valuable players come from Eastern Europe. Bosnian huNter- and Serbian captain nexa have a real chance of further improve their credentials with a good run at the ESL One: Road to Rio.

The team’s last competitive involvement was at the recent Pro League where they failed to advance from the group stage despite winning three out of their five matches.

Victories against the experienced FaZe Clan and Virtus.pro were a particular highlight but their 2:0 loss against OG eventually sealed the team’s fate.

However, they are still one of the best teams on the scene with a good mix of individual quality and organization.

GODSENT vs. G2 Prediction and Pick

It’s evident that the French team is expected to win here. I am also inclined to back a G2 victory but I do feel that it will not be as comfortable as the bookmakers think.

GODSENT is a bit of an unknown quantity at this level and are coming into this with a lot of confidence and a great record on Dust II and Overpass. Maps on which G2 haven’t had the chance to play a lot in recent official matchups.

I think the underdog will make it tough for nexa and his team to find their rhythm early, especially if they can get to pick a map first.

Since most people expect the favorites to blitz their opponents, the Over 2.5 market presents great odds and that’s what I’m going to go with here.
