Gen.G vs. HAVU Betting Preview and Prediction

Two teams still in the running for the first CS:GO Flashpoint title will face off today in the second round of the playoff lower bracket. Americans Gen.G haven’t played against Finnish organization HAVU in quite a while and this promises to be an exciting tie with a lot of betting opportunities.

This Gen.G vs. HAVU betting preview looks at the main betting markets that the top rated CS:GO bookmakers have rolled out and includes analysis of both teams’ current form. I then move on to my betting prediction and offer a free pick in the end.

HAVU -114

Gen.G (-1.5) +230
HAVU (+1.5) -312
HAVU (-1.5) +213

Over 2.5 -103

The Finns have been given a slight advantage but the matchup should prove to be a tight one. Let’s look at how the teams have been faring lately and try to figure out who can edge this.

Gen.G Analysis

After a couple of solid displays in Stage 2 of the tournament, the Americans secured their place in the playoffs but immediately fell to the lower bracket after getting beat 2:0 by Cloud9.

To their credit, they were always in the match, however, a 19:17 tiebreak loss in the first round was a big hit. The team never really recovered and managed only 13 round wins on their map of choice Nuke.

However, they improved to defeat FunPlus Phoenix’s exciting new-look roster with superb displays on Mirage and Inferno.

Captain daps, koosta, BnTeT and s0m were all great and a lot will depend on whether they can recreate the same form against one of the most consistent teams in the tournament.

HAVU Analysis

HAVU’s incredible run at the Flashpoint event was ended by Brazillian playoff experts MIBR.

Prior to the defeat, the Finnish team had racked up four consecutive 2:0 wins and the whole roster was high on confidence. The loss against fer and company will definitely disappoint them but it was not like they were blown away.

MIBR has a lot of experience in these situations and despite that, sAw and his team were more than a match for them. They started brilliantly by allowing only 8 rounds to the opponent on Vertigo.

The second round went right down to the wire, but it was the Brazilians who came out on top after a thrilling tiebreak on Dust II.

This was enough to break HAVU’s concentration and they quickly faltered on Train to hand MIBR the win.

However, they are still in this thing and will be itching to get back to winning ways against a vulnerable Gen.G team.

Gen.G vs. HAVU Prediction and Pick

The Americans have a knack of easily overcoming lower-ranked opposition but they exhibit great problems when facing more organized teams and HAVU is definitely one of them.

The teams specialize on different maps so a lot will depend on their picks, however, we have to take into account that HAVU was flying on any map before the tough loss against MIBR.

ZOREE, doto, and hoody have all posted better numbers than their Gen.G counterparts and the team holds a big advantage on Vertigo and Overpass.

But given that they do have problems on Nuke and Train, where the Americans have been solid, I’m willing to back the Over market here.

We haven’t really seen these teams face off at this level and while I still think HAVU will edge this, I want to hedge my bet a bit and pick a three-round game instead of a clear winner.
