It’s time for the big one! FURIA and Gen.G have made it to the Grand Final of the North American division at the ESL One: Road to Rio event. And the tie promises to be as exciting as always between these two fierce rivals.

The Brazilians have been near-perfect since the start of the qualifiers but the American organization has been a thorn in their sight for quite a while.

Watch out for my prediction that comes with a free betting pick at the end of the post!

Gen.G Analysis

The Americans topped Group A of the ESL One qualifiers with relative ease. They did lose to Cloud9 but prior wins against 100 Thieves and Triumph, plus a forfeited game by Orgless put them in a great position.

They wrapped up the group proceeding with a solid victory against Evil Geniuses and took revenge on Cloud9 in the quarterfinals.

Their improved performance on Inferno was a particular highlight especially after falling heavily on it in the group stage bout against floppy and company.

This will no doubt give great confidence to Gen.G, and they have every reason to believe they can overcome the deadly FURIA.

FURIA Analysis

The Brazilians have definitely hit top form in this tournament. They easily navigated Group B with five wins out of five and an insane kill count supplied mainly by yuurih and KSCERATO.

The 2:0 wins against Team Liquid and fellow countrymen MIBR gave a great boost to the team and they continued with their relentless approach to pummel Team Liquid again in the playoffs.

FURIA is probably the best team on Mirage and Overpass right now and will probably dominate again if they pick one of the two today.

Overall, arT’s and his guys are deservedly the favorite here but they must stay focused throughout the whole tie if they don’t want a repeat of the last two meetings with Gen.G.

Gen.G vs. FURIA Prediction and Pick

The first thing to note here is that unlike other CS:GO Grand Finals, the game will follow the traditional Best of 3 format. There isn’t an advantage that one of the teams will get prior to the game, so they’ll be starting from scratch.

It’s difficult to predict how it will all pan out but it’s even more difficult to bet against FURIA right now, I can tell you that.

The Brazilians have been in devastating form and have dominated both the group phase and the playoffs.

Players yuurih and KSERATO have a good claim for the Player of the Tournament award and I doubt that we will see a drop in their performance today.

However, it’s important to note that Gen.G is not exactly FURIA’s most comfortable opponent.

The Americans have beaten arT and his team twice already this season and both ties ended with a 2:0 scoreline. We have to go back to the days when this roster was playing under the Cloud9 banner to see FURIA’s last win against them.

It’s true that the Brazilians have improved a lot since the last time these two faced off but Gen.G still holds advantages on key maps like Dust II, Nuke, and Train.

I’m reluctant to pick an outright winner and feel that the odds for the Over 2.5 market are the best deal here.

FURIA are the favorites but history tells us that it won’t be a walk in the park for them. Let’s go for a three-round game and take advantage of the fantastic betting price for it.
