Gen.G vs. Dignitas Betting Preview and Prediction

Phase 2 of the CS:GO Flashpoint tournament is nearing its conclusion and today’s schedule sees Americans Gen.G take on Swedish outfit Dignitas.

The teams have had similar fortunes recently and will now be squaring off in Group B’s Lower Bracket for a chance to contest MIBR in the grand final.

This will be their second tie in the event and there are some exciting betting options that the best esports bookmakers have rolled out.

In my Gen.G vs. Dignitas betting preview, I explore the odds for the matchup as well as the key aspects of the teams’ current form. Afterward, I share my thoughts on how this one can go down and provide my betting pick in the end.

The Americans are firm favorites here, but will Dignitas be able to take something from the tie? There are reasons to believe they can put a fight. Let’s move on to my analysis and figure out where the betting value lies.

Gen.G Analysis

Gen.G are still in a position to make this a successful tournament for them, but will probably feel that they could’ve performed better on a couple of occasions.

After starting off with a solid win against Envy, they completely fell apart against Chaos. The unexpected loss definitely took a toll as the team looked like a spent force in their next game against MIBR and recorded another 2:0 loss.

They did beat Dignitas afterwards, but failed to make a good first round count in their second meeting with MIBR.

Despite another loss against the Brazilians, the team looks to have improved after a shaky start. BnTet and s0m in particular have been excellent lately. I expect another good performance from the duo today which could spell big trouble for their opponents.

Dignitas Analysis

The Swedes are coming into the tie as underdogs, but they actually have an identical record to Gen.G. They beat Orgless in their opening Flashpoint fixture and then came their slump as Dignitas recorded three straight losses.

The most worrying aspect of this was the fact that two of them were clean sweeps. Both today’s opponents Gen.G and Cloud 9 ran out deserved winners.

However, led by captain GeT_RiGhT and f0rest, they were able to overcome Orgless for the second time on Wednesday. The team will be hoping for a similar performance today as they try to stay in the hunt for a good playoff position.

Gen.G vs. Dignitas Prediction and Pick

On paper, Gen.G should have this done and dusted quickly. However, I think Dignitas is not as doomed as the odds seem to suggest.

Sure, they recorded some heavy losses, but it’s not like they were blowouts. The team was right in the mix for most of the four rounds against both Cloud9 and Gen.G.

And although it’s worrying that they can’t seem to make the final push, their win against Orgless will give them confidence to be a bit more daring. They have the quality and it’s up to them to get the belief as well.

I still think the Americans will nick this one, but I’m backing Dignitas to win a round. They have been mightily close on a few occasions and do have the edge over Gen.G on Vertigo and Inferno.

I’m fairly confident we will get to see a third round in this one, so I’m going with the high odds here and will back Gen.G to claim a hard-fought 2:1 win.

Pick
  • Gen.G to Win 2:1
    +190
