The first phase of Flashpoint Season 1 didn’t start well for Gen.G. The team beat Envy but then lost two in a row to earn only 30 points.

The squad responded well in the second phase and reached the final in Group C which was enough for the fifth spot in the rankings and a place in the playoffs of the competition.

The overall impression is that that Gen.G has been underperforming and could step up in the deciding stage. A win against Cloud9 will be a great start, so I expect an improvement today.

One of the teams that are hard to evaluate after the first stage of Flashpoint Season 1 is Cloud9. The squad reached two finals and won one of them, but also had a lot of trouble against Envy and got beaten comfortably by HAVU.

The points are there and Cloud9 did a good job, but still left a lot of doubts and I think that could be a problem in the playoffs. The format of the tournament so far allowed a lot of teams to take easy, but the knockouts will be different.

I think that Cloud9 will fail to progress much further and should struggle right from the start.

Despite Cloud9’s better overall performance so far and the higher seed, my prediction for this one is that Gen.G will win. The team has the potential to improve a lot, while the opponent should pretty much stay on the same level.

The more conservative pick would be to back Gen.G to simply win this one. However, let’s go one step further and go for the favorite to cover the -1.5 map advantage.
