Gen.G vs. Cloud9 Betting Preview, May 30th, 2020

We’ve almost reached the end of the DreamHack Masters’ Group B in the North American bracket.

The loss 100 Thieves registered against Evil Geniuses yesterday means that both Gen.G and Cloud9 will be going to the playoffs.

However, even if the stakes are not as high, this tie promises to be very tight and in this Gen.G vs. Cloud9 betting preview for today I try to guide you to where the betting value lies.

I provide my prediction based on the teams’ current form and some key stats from past meetings. I have also prepared a free pick so make sure you stick around!

Gen.G vs. Cloud9 Odds

First, let’s look at the current prices. I have once again chosen BetOnline’s sportsbook as the bookmaker regularly rolls out the highest odds and one of the most diverse market selections.

Here are three of the main options we can bet on this Saturday:

Match Winner

Gen.G -145
Cloud9 +114

Map Advantage

Gen.G  (-1.5) +197
Cloud9 (+1.5) -263

Total Maps Played

Over 2.5 -112
Under 2.5 -112

The 2020 ESL One: Road to Rio champions are once again given the nod by almost every one of the best esports betting sites.

However, they showed obvious shortcomings in both their fixtures so far and it will be a mistake to dismiss Cloud9’s chances here.

If you feel like the markets above don’t offer enough flexibility, you are welcome to visit BetOnline’s site and explore all the other options they have rolled out.

Time to see how these two teams have fared lately.

Gen.G Team Analysis

I really fancied the Americans to top this group and they did show what they can do when daps and company outwitted Evil Geniuses in the second round. However, their underwhelming performance against 100 Thieves has robbed them of the chance to clinch the first seed.

The team’s discipline and tactical ingenuity continue to be their main assets but it has to be said that Cloud9 knows quite well what they will be up against.

With how daps hasn’t been able to replicate the same organization and solidity which led the team to the Road to Rio title, there is bound to be plenty of chances for floppy and the others to make the most of their talents.

Cloud9 Team Analysis

Unlike Gen.G, JT and his teammates had a flying start to their DreamHack campaign by gunning down favorites Evil Geniuses in three rounds.

The squad started brilliantly as they overcame a five-round deficit to clinch the win on Dust II which paved the way for their marksmen to decimate EG on Train.

They got blasted by the high-flying 100 Thieves but we have to say that the first round was highly competitive and The Cloud could’ve easily snatched the tiebreak if they had shown a bit more resilience.

Now, they will be looking to main men JT and floppy to replicate their form against EG and enter the playoffs on a high.

Gen.G vs. Cloud9 Prediction and Betting Pick

Both teams will be going to the playoffs but make no mistake – nobody will treat this as an exhibition match.

Gen.G will be kicking themselves for not showing up against 100 Thieves and daps is not one to take any CS:GO tie lightly.

The same goes for Cloud9 and I expect to see both teams come out with all guns blazing.

I feel Gen.G’s tactical approach will probably slow down the game but their opponent knows all about this.

The Cloud has a slight advantage in the head-to-head department but they are prone to starting slowly and this is very dangerous if daps can get his troops to execute the plan well from the get-go.

It’s really hard to predict who will win this so I’m more inclined to go for a three-round game. The bouts between these two are usually very tight and I have every reason to believe we’re in for another closely-fought battle.
