G2 vs. North Betting Preview, May 19, 2020

The late game in Group A of the 2020 DreamHack Masters will see G2 Esports take on Danish team North.

The Frenchmen did well to reach the Grand Final of the ESL One: Road to Rio event but were easily brushed aside by Astralis. Now this tournament presents a perfect opportunity for them to rally and mount another challenge for honors.

Their opponent today managed to creep into the playoffs at the ESL One qualifiers but the absence of Kjaerbye took a lot out of them which resulted in an early exit.

This G2 vs. North betting preview gives you the most essential information if you’re looking to bet on today’s matchup. I preview the latest odds and also provide an analysis of both teams’ current form, past stats, and key developments.

There is a free betting pick for you in the end so make sure you stick around.

Given the recent roster changes in North and the fact that G2 made it ot the ESL One qualifiers Grand Final, it’s hardly a surprise that the bookmakers have given the nod to nexa and his team.

Let’s see if North stands any chance today.

G2 Esports

G2 has firmly established itself in the Top 10 of the world rankings with their impressive performances at the Road to Rio event. They did have a couple of lackluster performances in the group stage but managed to rally in the playoffs and beating FaZe to reach the final was a particular highlight.

This is a top team, there’s no doubt about that. Captain nexa’s tactics coupled with the kill count that KennyS and huNter- can produce on their day make them a real threat to any opposition.

The problem that still lingers in their ranks is the fact that key players can be a bit inconsistent. This didn’t apply to nexa in the recent ESL One playoff bouts but his most trusted generals were a bit off against Heretics and completely faltered in the ultimate game against Astralis.

If they manage to put a decent performance today, it will be very tough for North to salvage anything here.

Team North

The Danish organization started the ESL One: Road to Rio brightly but faded away immediately after their best player Kjaerbye announced he will be taking an extended break from the Counter-Strike scene.

It seems that the player has some serious health problems right now and we’re all hoping that he makes a quick recovery.

During his absence, coach Jumpy acted as a stand-in and produced some very cerebral performances, however, his relatively low kill count was a problem.

Now, the team has signed promising 18-year-old Kristou from AGF who should improve the squad on the kills front but it’s also true that the player lacks experience at this level and will most certainly need time to gel with his new teammates.

Facing G2 on your debut is not exactly the ideal scenario and a top performance will be needed if North is to be successful in their opening DreamHack Masters fixture.

G2 vs. North Prediction and Pick

The Danes did dring down G2 at the ESL One: Road to Rio but they had Kjaerbye in top form and this is not something you can easily replace.

Kristou has ample skill on the kills front but I doubt he will be able to immediately take off.

G2 will be disappointed they couldn’t put up any resistance against Astralis but they remain an elite team and KennyS and huNter- will certainly feel they have something to prove here.

The Frenchmen have no problems taking advantage of their opponents’ weaknesses and a 2:0 win here sounds like the most logical scenario.

The odds from Betway represent a fair price and I don’t think there’s a better bet you can make today.
