G2 vs. BIG Betting Preview With Prediction and Pick for June 10, 2020

The Upper Bracket Final of the 2020 DreamHack Masters’ European division will be settled with a clash between G2 Esports and BIG.

Not a lot of people would have expected to see the Germans here but the event has been a happy hunting ground for them and they have thoroughly deserved their success so far.

However, they are now coming up against the World No.2 team who are on the back of a highly-impressive win against the current ranking leaders Natus Vincere.

Today’s tie promises to be a very interesting affair and with my G2 vs. BIG betting preview, I try to figure out how it will pan out.

I take a look at the latest odds and I base my prediction on them and the current form of both organizations.

G2 vs. BIG Odds

Before I get to my final betting pick for today’s crunch matchup, let’s take a look at the prices. I’ve scoured all the top rated CS:GO betting sites and here is what my research has yielded:

Match Winner

G2 -164
BIG +134

Map Advantage

G2 (-1.5) +182
BIG (+1.5) -244

Total Maps Played

Over 2.5 +111
Under 2.5 -141

These odds are taken from BetOnline and the bookmaker has proven time and time again that it is one of the best US platforms for esports wagers.

As you can see from the main markets, captain nexa and his team are firm favorites despite BIG’s huge win against FaZe Clan yesterday.

Let’s move on to my analysis and try to see whether the Germans can spring another surprise here or their French opponents have this in the bag.

G2 Current Form

G2 has been on the up since losing heavily to Astralis at the ESL One: Road to Rio Grand Final.

They topped their DreamHack Masters group with relative ease and made a huge statement of intent yesterday when they dominated Natus Vincere in the Upper Bracket semi-final.

This was quite an accomplishment as NAVI is back to their best right now so beating s1mple and his crew on just two maps can be considered as the Frenchmen’s most impressive recent feat.

They needed a tiebreak to take the win on their map pick Mirage but it still goes to show how this team has improved in the clutch moments.

KennyS didn’t have his best outing but nexa and huNter- were relentless once again and the group as a whole will be feeling very confident after taking down the world ranking leaders.

BIG Current Form

The Germans shocked the CS:GO community by topping Group B of the DreamHack event with wins over elite squads like MAD LIONS and mousesports.

Little did we know that they were just getting started.

Nothing was pointing to a 2:0 win for them against FaZe yesterday but this is exactly what happened.

Captain tabseN and his guys came out with all guns blazing right from the start. It was a bold strategy against one of the top European teams but it paid off.

FaZe never really got going and endured its heaviest defeat in a while after BIG limited them to single digits on both Nuke and Inferno.

The Germans remain unbeaten in the tournament and the huge scalp they collected yesterday is exactly the springboard they needed to finally make their appearance at a top event count.

G2 vs. BIG Prediction and Pick

This is definitely a tough one to predict. My instinct is that G2 should be able to wrap up the tie quickly but the way BIG performed against FaZe Clan yesterday gives me pause.

I seriously doubt that they can repeat the same performance but this is what we thought when they were beating mousesports and MAD Lions in the group stage.

The team is obviously high on confidence and despite the fact that FaZe could’ve handled some of the rounds better, the Germans deserve huge credit for their tenacious and bold approach.

G2 has way more experience at these stages, though, and will fancy their chances of building an early lead especially if KennyS improves his aim a bit today.

Either way, I’m not prepared to name an outright winner and will go with the Under 2.5 market.

If nothing extraordinary happens, nexa and his team should be able to breeze past their opponent the way they did the last time these organizations met at the ESL Pro League.

However, BIG has been flying at the DreamHack and I can’t dismiss their chances of staging another dominant performance.

The good news is that the market covers both scenarios and the price is very decent, so this is my final pick:

  • Under 2.5

That’s all for my G2 vs. BIG betting preview and let’s hope we’re in for a thrilling Upper Bracket Final today.
