Post time for the today’s first race at Will Rogers Downs is 1:15 PM (CDT).

This is Lady Laura’s race to lose, and with Lane J. Luzzi aboard, that’s not likely to happen—even out there at the far end of the starting gate. Sure, you could place a safety bet on Hallies Dream (8/1), but I’m not sure Adrian Ramos is the jockey to get her there.

For a longshot, you could try Slidan, ridden by Justin Shepherd, at 30/1. She’s finished in the money for two of her four career starts, making her a bit of a standout among these fillies.

This will be the favorite’s first start since gelding, but first post position forgives a multitude of sins, so he’ll almost certainly cross the finish line first. Still, don’t ignore Whiskey Factor and Just Ask Joel, even though they’re starting way out at the other end of the gate.

If you’re looking for a longshot, Wild and Golden is the only one of the 20/1 competitors that has finished in the money (once) in their careers.

Momma’s Baby Boy and Kirk of Diamonds are tops on the moneyline, but Sugoi—with Ry Eikleberry aboard—in first post position could be a bit of a surprise in this race.

For longshot fans, take a look at March West. Jockey Gary Steinberg has not been having the best year, but he and March West have some advantage in the number 2 post position, so, well, dreams can happen.
