While favorite Strong Side has a record deserving of his 5/2 moneyline in this race, I can’t say as much for Valiant Appeal at 3/1,  and even less for Flatout Winner at 4/1.

I’d like to recommend a horse with a chance of returning higher profits on your wager, but I only sort of like Dance Doctor, and 5/1 isn’t quite good enough to get me excited about a win ticket. So it looks like I’m sticking with the favorite in this race.

Sweet Mary is heavily favored to win in this race, so that means there are plenty of longer-odds bets to make on these ladies. I like Keena, with Ry Eikleberry in the irons, but the horse that really piques my interest is Between the Arches at 10/1, with Bennie Landeros aboard. She’s got a solid win/earnings record—quite similar to that of the favorite.

Go ahead and bet on Sweet Mary as well if you just gotta have extra insurance of a win here, but it’s Between the Arches for me.

A nice tasty stakes race to finish off this session of free picks. A tightly matched field of fillies with just a couple of longer-odds choices leaves me with the suspicion that the winner will not be paying out bigly.

Still, I’m going to go with Diamonds N Spurs at 4/1 for the win. Great post position and, well, my Magic 8 Ball took one look at that pair and said “It Could Happen.”
