  • Post Time: 2:15 PM
  • Purse: $23,760
  • Distance: 1 mile
  • Conditions: For Accredited Oklahoma-Bred Maidens, Three Years Old And Upward

Race 3 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • Willy Special Cats, D Cabrera, 9/2
  • Dramacide, K S Tohill, 7/2
  • Rollin River, A Pusac, 20/1
  • Centergee, A Triana Jr., 6/1
  • Final Burbank, G Steinberg, 15/1
  • Johnny Longboat, A B Ramos, 20/1
  • What Thinking, J A Medina, 12/1
  • Bug Zapper, R Eikleberry, 6/1
  • November Mike, L J Luzzi, 3/1
  • Justins Omen, O Sanchez, 10/1

Race 3 Prediction and Pick

Although second- and third-favored Dramacide and Willy Special Cats both have much better post positions, I’m sticking with the moneyline favorite, November Mike, for this race.

Race 3 Tip

An interesting longshot is the oldest horse in this maiden race: What Thinking at 12/1, ridden by Jose Angel Medina. With some solid money finishes over a rather sparse number of career starts, this five-year-old gelding is showing definite signs of maturing into a real competitor.

  • November Mike

  • Post Time: 4:45 PM
  • Purse: $27,500
  • Distance: 1 mile
  • Conditions: For Three Year Olds And Upward

Race 8 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • Miltontown, T Kennedy, 4/1
  • Drifting West, L Wade, 12/1
  • Eagle Pass, S E Bermudez, SCRATCHED
  • Vangilder, L J Luzzi, 6/1
  • Gold Buyer, G Herrera, 20/1
  • Gentrified, F Wethey, Jr., 8/1
  • Grade One, K S Tohill, 5/1
  • Dame Plata, R Eikleberry, 15/1
  • Gato Guapo, J Shepherd, 5/2
  • Overzealous, D Cabrera, SCRATCHED

Race 8 Prediction and Pick

Once again, I have to go with the moneyline favorite here: Gato Guapo with Justin Shepherd aboard. Gato Guapo’s collected money on two-thirds of his career starts (27), seven of those first place.

Race 8 Tip

Oddly enough, my 10/1 longshot pick, Overzealous, virtually mirrors the favorite in this race. Two-thirds of his starting races in the money? Check. Plenty of wins in that mix (8)? Check. I think what could put Overzealous across the finish line first is his jockey, David Cabrera.

  • Gato Guapo

RACE 9 – TRAO Classic Sprint Stakes

  • Post Time: 5:15 PM
  • Purse: $55,000
  • Type: STAKES
  • Distance: 6 furlongs
  • Conditions: For Accredited Oklahoma-Bred Colts And Geldings, Three Years Old And Upward

Race 9 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • Gospel Cherokey, C Kimes, 20/1
  • Welder, D Cabrera, 2/5
  • Criminal, L Wade, 20/1
  • Timely Reply, A B Ramos, 12/1
  • Fly to the Bank, T Kennedy, 15/1
  • Rockport Kat, R Eikleberry, 8/1
  • Shannon C, F Wethey, Jr., 5/1
  • Eurowest, G Herrera, 20/1

Race 9 Prediction and Pick

Looks like Welder at 2/5 could almost phone this one in. Plenty of good thoroughbreds in this race, but none come close to Welder’s winning of two-thirds of his 33 starts—he collected money in all but three of those starts, by the way. He’d win even if I were the jockey—probably—but lucky for him, I’m not. David Cabrera has that job.

Race 9 Tip

See preceding paragraph.

  • Welder
