Free Horse Racing Picks and Tips for Tampa Bay Downs on Wednesday, April 22, 2020

Tampa Bay Downs has a lineup of nine races on both dirt and turf scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
I’ll take a look at the three richest races on the card for April 22, but you can get the full lineup of races, along with entries, odds, and wager options with a quick visit to one of these recommended horse racing betting sites.
The weather in Tampa is clearing up a bit, with the forecast for April 22nd predicting mostly cloudy skies but only a 10% chance of rain, and wind at a mild 8 mph. Despite the cloud cover, temps will be in the upper 80s.
I hope you enjoy my Tampa Bay Downs picks and tips for today. Post time for the first race on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, is 12:30 PM (EDT).
RACE 5

- Conditions: For Four Year Olds And Upward Which Have Never Won A Race Other Than Maiden, Claiming, Or Starter Or Which Have Never Won Two Races Or Optional Claiming Price Of $16,000
Race 5 Runners and Odds Forecast
- Saucy Don, R Mena, 9/2
- Top Seed, A A Gallardo, 5/2
- Forward Motion, W Alencar, 12/1
- Highland Park Hero, R Feliciano, 6/1
- Strate Remark, A Santos, 8/1
- Legacy Azteca, S Camacho, 7/2
- Cave Run, S Spieth, 8/1
- Elzabe’s On Board, A Suarez, 6/1
Race 5 Prediction and Pick
While two other horses are favored over Saucy Don, the 10-year-old is a possible winner thanks to his pole position. Naturally, actual favorite Top Seed and second-fave Legacy Azteca might have something to say about that. I suspect, however, that the race will come down to Saucy Don and Strate Remark (8/1). Strate Remark has placed first in six of his 19 career starts, for one thing. The only thing holding him back might be his jockey, Ademar Santos, who’s won less than 10% of his 2020 starts.

- Sense of Justice, D Centeno, 3/1
- Blame the Cake, S Camacho, 9/5
- Our Man Luke, D Delgado, 30/1
- Captain Billy Roy, S Spieth, 20/1
Race 7 Prediction and Pick
Picking a winner in a maiden race is often a crossed-fingers guessing game, and this one is no exception. While Blame the Cake is the favorite at 9/5, there’s Creed and Sense of Justice at 5/2 and 3/1, respectively. Still, Blame the Cake is one of the more experienced horses in this race (two career starts so far), and I like jockey Samy Camacho’s chances.
This race is a longshotter’s dream, by the way, with six of the horses at 10/1 or more, and four over 12/1. Pick one and pray.

- Kid Russell, W Alencar, 5/1
- Pricey Victory, T B Mejia, 30/1
Race 8 Prediction and Pick
Every horse in this race has a single win to their name, but some had to go at it a few times to get to that single win. Like race 7 above, this is one of those “your guess is as good as mine” races, but I’ll take a stab at it and hope you agree.
First off, forget Pricey Victory, the horse that scored a single win in 13 starts and well deserves the 30/1 moneyline.
Even the favorite, Summer Assault, wouldn’t be my first pick (that’d be Uncle Bud), but his jockey, Angel Suarez, has a good record for wins, so I’ll go with that. As with race 7 above, pick your longshot with a dart and a prayer.
