Free Horse Racing Picks and Tips for Fonner Park on Tuesday, May 5, 2020

Fonner Park thoroughbred racing continues on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, with an eight-race card of maiden, allowance, and claiming races.
The weather forecast for Tuesday is much drier than it was for Monday, with mostly sunny skies, temps in the low 80s, zero percent chance of rain, and winds at 16 mph.
Be sure to check out these top horse racing betting sites for the complete list of races, entries, trainers, and wager options for Fonner Park.
Post time for the first race at Fonner Park on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, is 4 PM (CDT). My picks and tips are below.
RACE 2
- Post Time: 4:27 PM
- Purse: $7,700
- Type: ALLOWANCE
- Distance: 6 furlongs
- Conditions: For Certified Nebraska-Bred Three Year Olds And Upward Which Have Never Won Two Races
Race 2 Runners and Odds Forecast
- 1 El Prieto, J Journet, 10/1
- 2 Want to Be Cowboy, A Martinez, 3/1
- 3 Nebraska Chrome, L R Rodriguez, 8/1
- 4 P R Gold Play, SCRATCHED
- 5 Mr. Big Shot, N Haar, 2/1
- 6 Gogetmbugs, R Martinez, 10/1
- 7 Creeds Revenge, F Arrieta, 7/2
Race 2 Prediction and Pick
Mr. Big Shot, at 2/1, is the favorite in this race, followed closely by Want to Be Cowboy (3/1) and Creeds Revenge (7/2). The favorite, ridden by Armando Martinez, seems like the right choice here, with five money finishes in his six career starts. It helps that Mr. Big Shot is the only horse in this allowance race young enough to carry 120 lbs rather than 123.
Race 2 Tip
I would be stretching the tissue of imagination a bit too far to suggest that any of the longshots in this race actually had a chance to win.

RACE 3
- Post Time: 4:54 PM
- Purse: $4,500
- Type: CLAIMING
- Distance: 1 mile
- Conditions: For Three Year Olds And Upward Which Have Never Won Two Races
Race 3 Runners and Odds Forecast
- 1 Captain Amante, D Wood, 5/2
- 2 Spunky Kitten, S A Bethke, 7/2
- 3 Good Old Lunch Box, C Fackler , 6/1
- 4 Tekela’s Glory, E McNeil, 15/1
- 5 More Than Stature, J L Olesiak , 10/1
- 6 Witts Hurricane, R Martinez, 3/1
- 7 Auctioneer, L R Rodriguez, 4/1
Race 3 Prediction and Pick
There are four geldings in this claiming race worthy of consideration, the favorite, of course, being Captain Amante (5/2), ridden by Dakota Woods, and with the enviable pole position. I’m going to go, however, with the third-favored horse in this race—Spunky Kitten, piloted by Scott Bethke. Good starting position, and with 15 career starts resulting in six money finishes, Spunky Kitten rates higher—in my book, at least—than the favorite.
Race 3 Tip
At 15/1, Tekela’s Glory is a possibility, with 25 career starts and seven finishes in the money. Making the wager a bit riskier is jockey Eric McNeil’s less than stellar wins/earnings record.

RACE 7
- Post Time: 6:42 PM
- Purse: $7,100
- Type: STARTER ALLOWANCE
- Distance: 6 furlongs
- Conditions: For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward Which Have Started For A Claiming Price Of $5,000, Nebraska-Bred $6,500, Or Less In 2019-2020
Race 7 Runners and Odds Forecast
- 1 Honey Hearts, J Journet, 8/1
- 2 Classy and Fast, A Martinez, 6/1
- 3 A Bunch for Lunch, F Arrieta, 7/2
- 4 Matapan, J L Olesiak, 5/2
- 5 Attitude Ajustment, L R Rodriguez, 6/1
- 6 Lil Miss de Buy, D Wood, 10/1
- 7 May Flowers, C Fackler, 3/1
Race 7 Prediction and Pick
I’d like to say I fancy Honey Hearts at 8/1, but I can’t, despite that enviable pole position. In fact, I’m going with the second-favored lady May Flowers way down at the other end of the starting gate. She has better starting stats than the more favored thoroughbreds, and jockey Chris Fackler has some respectable wins/earning stats himself.
Race 7 Tip
A good possibility is Classy and Fast at 6/1. This five-year-old mare has 22 career starts with 14 finishes in the money—seven of them wins. With jockey Armando Martinez aboard, it could happen.
