| July 9, 2020 12:46 am PDT

Thoroughbred racing continues apace at Thistledown Racino on Thursday, July 9, 2020, with an eight-race schedule of maiden, allowance, and claiming matches.

Thursday’s forecast for North Randall, Ohio predicts more scattered thunderstorms, temperatures in the low 90s, and five-mph winds.

While I cover the three richest races here, you can always find the complete list of Thistledown Racino’s races, including entries, jockeys, and wagering options, at our best horse racing betting sites.

Post time for the first race at Thistledown Racino on Thursday is 12:50 PM (EDT). Now, let’s have a look at my predictions, picks, and tips.

  • 3 Nuns Island, A Bracho, 3/1
  • 4 Judy’s Pride, Y L Correa, 9/2

  • 7 April Marie, E Paucar, 10/1
  • 8 The Calico Lady, E Barbaran, 8/1
  • 9 Wherethere’ssmoke, S Jimenez, 20/1
  • 10 Ashley’s Envy, A L Kauffman, 15/1

Race 1 Prediction and Pick

I like the second-favored (4/1) entry in this maiden race—Grazia Who, with Hector L. Rosario Jr. in the irons. This three-year-old filly moneyed two of her three career starts.

Race 1 Tip

Any maiden race where Edgar Paucar is riding at 10/1 or higher is a race I’m buying a show ticket. In this case, Paucar is aboard April Marie, a three-year-old filly that finished in the money once in her four career starts. Advantage: Paucar.

Pick
  • Grazie Who
    4/1

RACE 5

  • Post Time: 2:50 PM
  • Purse: $23,000
  • Type: ALLOWANCE
  • Distance: 5-1/2 furlongs
  • Conditions: For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward Which Have Never Won Three Races

Race 5 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Bellamy Brooke, T D Houghton, 5/2
  • 1A Chit Chatting, T D Houghton, 5/2
  • 2 Kitty Express, R Feliciano, 8/1
  • 3 Hada Madrina, Y L Correa, 3/1
  • 4 I’m Feeling Lucky, F Salazar Becerra, 7/2
  • 5 Bad Karma, L J Martinez, Jr., 9/2
  • 6 Unwritten, J A Bracho, 6/1

Coupled Entries – 1 – Bellamy Brooke, 1A – Chit Chatting

Race 5 Prediction and Pick

I like one half of the 5/2 favorites (the coupled entries), specifically, Bellamy Brooke, with T. D. Houghton aboard. This three-year-old filly moneyed in all three of her career starts, winning two of them.

Race 5 Tip

No odds long enough to risk longshot money in this race.

Pick
  • Bellamy Brooke
    5/2

RACE 8

  • Post Time: 4:20 PM
  • Purse: $27,000
  • Type: MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT
  • Distance: 6 furlongs
  • Conditions: For Registered Ohio Foals Maidens, Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward

Race 8 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Princess Ex, J M Magrell, 6/1
  • 2 Cause of Love, T D Houghton, 6/1
  • 3 Zenmode, SCRATCHED
  • 4 Wild Tillie, H Berrios, 12/1
  • 5 Persevering Honor, E Barbaran, 7/2
  • 6 Deb’s All Out, A Bracho, 10/1
  • 7 Aiken Apple, W Alencar, 3/1
  • 8 Gertie Cat, R Feliciano, 5/2

Race 8 Prediction and Pick

Not a particularly impressive field as maiden races go, but I’ll take a flyer on the 5/2 favorite, Gertie Cat, with Ricardo Feliciano in the irons. This five-year-old mare moneyed in her single career start last month, placing second.

Race 8 Tip

You might want to consider a show ticket on the 12/1 Wild Tillie. This three-year-old filly failed to finish in the money during her four career starts—all with apprentice Joam Toledo in the irons. Her pilot this race, however, is the accomplished Hector Berrios, who can certainly improve her chances.

Pick
  • Gertie Cat
    5/2
