Mountaineer Racetrack Picks for Monday, June 15, 2020

Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort continues to offer a schedule of maiden, allowance, and claiming races for Monday, June 15, 2020.

The forecast for Monday in New Cumberland, West Virginia calls for partly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of rain, temps in the upper 70s, and light winds around seven mph.

I cover the three richest races here, but you can always find all the Mountaineer Racetrack races, entries, jockeys, trainers, and wagering options, at these top horse racing betting sites.

Post time for the first race at Mountaineer Racetrack on Monday is 7 PM (EDT). My betting picks and tips for today follow below.

  • Post Time: 7:00 PM
  • Purse: $14,000
  • Distance: 5-1/2 furlongs
  • For Maidens, Three Years Old.

Race 1 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Harvest Gold, Y Yaranga, 30/1
  • 2 Allaboutbiz, A Williams, 8/1
  • 3 Thirst for Quality, W Ortiz, 3/1
  • 4 Anywhere Road, O J Mayta, 6/1
  • 5 Chads Choice, SCRATCHED
  • 6 One Spur McGirr, L H Colon, 20/1
  • 7 Ma Moo Power, K Serrano, 20/1
  • 8 King Shawn, A Gonzalez, 6/1
  • 9 U S S Costly, C Oliveros, 8/5

Race 1 Prediction and Pick

I’m going with the 8/5 moneyline favorite (and my nomination for the Most Honestly-Named Thoroughbred Ever) U S S Costly, ridden by Charles Oliveros. This is a maiden race, so we can toss out any hope for meaningful statistics. Instead, we look at each horse’s connections—jockey, trainer, etc. In this case, I dislike Oliveros—or to be more precise, his statistics—less than I dislike those of the jockeys riding the next three moneyline-favored horses in this field.

Race 1 Tip

I have two probable show ticket success stories for this race: Harvest Gold (at 30/1), ridden by Yuri Yaranga, and One Spur McGirr (at 20/1), ridden by Luis Colon. I like Yaranga because he has finished in the money for nearly half his starts, and I don’t see him slowing down anytime soon. And I like Colon because he is the winningest jockey in this race. So, two show tickets.

  • U S S Costly

  • Post Time: 8:15 PM
  • Purse: $18,400
  • Distance: 7 furlongs (turf)
  • For Three Year Olds And Upward Which Have Never Won Three Races. If necessary will be run six furlongs Main Track.

Race 4 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Tristan’s Trilogy, A R Ramgeet, 6/1
  • 2 Go Uncle Bob, K Serrano, 4/1
  • 3 Raison Karter, Y Yaranga, 10/1
  • 4 Animal Kingston, A Flores, 5/2
  • 5 Science to Win, O J Mayta, 12/1
  • 6 Lil Pistola, W Ortiz, 12/1
  • 7 Stay Awesome, A Gonzalez, 7/2
  • 8 Actspectation, L Hernandez, 8/1
  • 9 Sweepingthenation, O Santos, 20/1
  • 10 Want, N Vigil, 30/1

Race 4 Prediction and Pick

I like the third-favored (4/1) entry in this field–Go Uncle Bob, with Keivan Serrano aboard. This four-year-old colt has a better record than the two horses the moneyline fancies more: Four finishes in the money out of five career starts, two of them wins.

Race 4 Tip

No long odds wagers are worth the risk, but it’s possible you would find a happy ending with a show ticket on 8/1 Actspectation, with Luciano Hernandez in the irons. This four-year-old gelding has moneyed four times in his eight career starts, winning two of them.

  • Go Uncle Bob

  • Post Time: 9:05 PM
  • Purse: $14,000
  • Distance: 6 furlongs
  • For Maidens, Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

Race 6 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Stormin Rosemary, Y Yaranga, 20/1
  • 2 Flatter Me Sydney, C Oliveros, 8/1
  • 3 Melodramatic, K Serrano, 20/1
  • 4 Kingston Time, O J Mayta, 3/1
  • 5 Alexandra Thirteen, L Hernandez, 1/1
  • 6 Mytickettoparadise, N Vigil, 12/1
  • 7 Nymphesa, W Ortiz, 7/2

Race 6 Prediction and Pick

Maiden races are always darts in the dark, but I’m going to go with the second-favored (3/1) Kingston Time, with Odhair Mayta in the irons. This three-year-old filly has finished in the money one time in her six starts.

Race 6 Tip

Not long odds by any means, but at 8/1, Flatter Me Sydney with Charles Oliveros aboard looks like a probability. This four year-old filly has moneyed six of her 18 starts.
