Free Horse Racing Picks and Betting Tips for Gulfstream Park – Friday, July 10, 2020

| July 10, 2020 12:12 am PDT

Gulfstream Park continues its schedule of thoroughbred racing Friday, July 10, 2020, with nine allowance, claiming, and maiden matches.

The Friday forecast in Hallandale Beach, Florida, calls for continued thunderstorms, temperatures in the low 90s, and winds around ten mph.

I cover the three races with the largest purses here, but you can always find the complete list of Gulfstream Park races, entries, and wagering options at one of our recommended horse racing betting sites.

Post time for the first race at Gulfstream Park on Friday is 12 PM (EDT). Let’s move on to my predictions, picks, and tips.

  • Post Time: 12:29 PM
  • Purse: $33,500
  • Distance: 5 furlongs
  • Conditions: For Maidens, Two Years Old

Race 2 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Papa Honor, M Meneses, 12/1
  • 2 Mister Leonardo, J Trejos, 8/1
  • 3 Congrats Again, M A Vasquez, 7/5
  • 4 Freelance, L Reyes, 10/1
  • 5 Mighty Thomas, J M Rios, 12/1
  • 6 Monday’s With Mike, E J Zayas, 9/2
  • 7 First Navy Admiral, E Jaramillo, 5/2

Race 2 Prediction and Pick

I’m going with the second-favored (5/2) entry in this two-year-old maiden race—First Navy Admiral, with Emisael Jaramillo in the irons. This colt moneyed in one of his two career starts and has the advantage of the winningest jockey in this race for a pilot.

Race 2 Tip

At 12/1, consider Mighty Thomas, with Jesus M. Rios aboard. No career starts here, and workout times are uninspiring (as are most in this field), but Rios is one of the best jockeys in this match, and that counts. Show bet only.

  • First Navy Admiral

  • Post Time: 1:28 PM
  • Purse: $37,000
  • Type: CLAIMING
  • Distance: 1 mile (turf, rail at 12 feet)
  • Conditions: For Fillies Three Years Old. If deemed inadvisable to run this race over the turf course, it will be run on the main track at One Mile

Race 4 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 R Calli Kim, J Trejos, 7/2
  • 2 Glorious Gal, E Jaramillo, 9/2
  • 3 Let’s Be Honest (MTO), SCRATCHED
  • 4 Little Bit Good, V Lebron, 4/1
  • 5 Itsarollofthedice, L Panici, 12/1
  • 6 Silly Notion, C A Torres, 8/1
  • 7 Mrs. Maisel, M A Vasquez, 5/1
  • 8 La Rusia, E J Zayas, 5/2

Race 4 Prediction and Pick

I’m sticking with the 5/2 favorite in this race—La Rusia, with Edgard Zayas aboard. This filly moneyed seven of her 11 career starts, winning one of them, and Zayas is statistically the best in this match.

Race 4 Tip

At 12/1, Itsarollofthedice, ridden by Luca Panici, is worth a show ticket. This filly finished in two of her five career starts—both of them wins.

  • La Rusia

  • Post Time: 2:28 PM
  • Purse: $54,000
  • Distance: 5 furlongs (turf, rail at 72 feet)
  • Conditions: For Fillies Three Years Old Which Have Never Won $10,000 Once Other Than Maiden, Claiming, Starter Or State Bred Allowance Or Which Have Never Won Two Races Or Claiming Price $75,000. If deemed inadvisable to run this race over the turf course, it will be run on the main track at Five Furlongs

Race 6 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Carolyn’s Smile (MTO) , SCRATCHED
  • 2 Bibiana (MTO), SCRATCHED
  • 3 Swirling Candy, E Jaramillo, 6/5
  • 4 Meadow Beauty, H I Berrios, 9/2
  • 5 Dancing Destroyer (MTO), SCRATCHED
  • 6 Mane Attraction, M Fuentes, 7/2
  • 7 Drop a Hint, V Lebron, 8/1
  • 8 Merseyside, E J Zayas, 4/1
  • 9 Cajun Delight (MTO), M A Vasquez, 7/2
  • 10 Royal Jewel, J Trejos, 15/1

Race 6 Prediction and Pick

If this race is moved to the main track, it will be a very different competition, but I believe the winner in either case will be the 6/5 favorite—Swirling Candy, with top jockey Emisael Jaramillo aboard. This filly finished in the money six out of her seven career starts, with three of those wins.

Race 6 Tip

I don’t see any long-odds entries in this race that are worth the risk.

  • Swirling Candy
