Although it will be closed to spectators, Belmont Park in Elmont, New York, is opening for its 25-day Spring/Summer Meet starting on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. The 10-race card includes the lucrative Grade III Beaugay Stakes race, as well as a good mix of maiden, allowance, and claiming races.
The forecast for Wednesday at Elmont predicts scattered thunderstorms, with temps in the mid-80s and winds around 13 mph.
While I’m covering the Beaugay Stakes and two other races here, remember that you can find all the Belmont Park races, including entries, odds, and wager options, at any of the leading sites for betting on horse racing.
Post time for the first race at Belmont Park Wednesday is 1:15 PM (EDT). Now, let’s look at my picks and betting tips.

12 English Soul, SCRATCHED
13 Bossy Bride (MTO), J Alvarado, 9/2
15 The Great Johanna (MTO), D Davis, 6/1
Race 6 Prediction and Pick
Plenty of star talent in this race, both on the ground and in the irons, but I’m sticking with the 3/1 favorite—Passive Investing, with Javier Castellano aboard. This four-year-old filly has moneyed in all three of her career starts, one of those a win. Pole position in this race should ensure that singleton win won’t be lonely long.
Race 6 Tip
Due to late scratches, I see no long-odds entries worth the risk.
Post Time: 5:04 PM

14 Prioritize (MTO), L Cardenas, 12/1
15 Felix in Fabula (MTO), Rider TBA, 8/1
16 California Night (MTO), Rider TBA, 15/1
Race 8 Prediction and Pick
I like the second-favored (7/2) horse in this race—Value Proposition, with Irad Ortiz Jr. in the irons. This four-year-old colt has three career starts, resulting in three finishes in the money, two of them wins.
Race 8 Tip
At 30/1, you might want to consider a show bet on Hit It Once More, ridden by Kendrick Carmouche. This seven-year-old has moneyed 15 times in 40 career starts, with seven of those wins, and Carmouche is plenty jockey enough to complete the job.
RACE 9 – Beaugay Stakes (Grade III)
Post Time: 5:36 PM
Distance: 1-1/16 miles (turf)
Conditions: For Fillies And Mares Four-Year-Olds And Upward
Race 9 Runners and Odds Forecast
1 Rushing Fall, J Castellano, 6/5
2 Fifty Five, SCRATCHED
3 Got Stormy, T Gaffalione, 7/5
4 Call Me Love, J Alvarado, 12/1
5 Passing Out, J L Ortiz, 15/1
6 Xenobia, M Franco, 10/1
Race 9 Prediction and Pick
When the moneyline favorite is in the pole position, I feel compelled to back their choice. Rushing Fall, with Javier Castellano aboard, is an easy pick here at 6/5. This five-year-old mare has moneyed 10 times in her 11 career starts, with eight of those wins. And with Castellano behind the wheel? Oh, yeah.
Race 9 Tip
Try a show ticket on Call Me Love at 12/1. This four-year-old filly has finished in the money in all eight of her career starts, and five of those finishes were wins. With veteran jockey Junior Alvarado at the helm, it’s hard to imagine her not maintaining her 100% money finish record.
