| July 10, 2020 12:37 am PDT

Belmont Park features a ten-race card for Friday, July 10, 2020, that includes the Gold Fever Stakes race and nine other maiden, claiming, and allowance matches.

Friday’s forecast in Elmont, New York, is all about rain. You can also expect temps to be in the upper 70s and winds to be around 17 mph.

I cover the Gold Fever Stakes race as well as two others here, but you can always find the complete list of Belmont Park races at our top-rated horse racing betting sites.

Read on for today’s Belmont Park picks and betting tips. Post time for the first race on Friday is 1:15 PM (EDT).

  • Post Time: 1:15 PM
  • Purse: $64,000
  • Distance: 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 18 feet)
  • Conditions: For Maidens, Two Years Old. If the Stewards consider it inadvisable to run this race on the turf course, this race will be run at Six Furlongs on the Main Track

Race 1 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Centavo, K Carmouche, 15/1
  • 2 Pitaman, J Alvarado, 5/2
  • 3 Takecareyallchickn, R R Maragh, 15/1
  • 4 Scarlett Sky, SCRATCHED
  • 5 Blame the Booze, M Franco, 5/1
  • 6 King of Miami, J L Ortiz, 1/1

Race 1 Prediction and Pick

Sure, why not—I’m going with the 1/1 moneyline favorite King of Miami, with Joel L. Ortiz in the irons. The only thing remarkable about this colt is his jockey—but sometimes, that is all it takes.

Race 1 Tip

At 15/1, I recommend a show ticket on Takecareyallchickn, ridden by Romero Maragh. This colt is the only entry in this field with career starts (one), and his workouts have been pretty consistent with all the other two-year-olds here. What gives him a possible edge is Maragh’s five-pound apprentice allowance.

  • King of Miami

  • Post Time: 5:04 PM
  • Purse: $60,000
  • Distance: 1 mile
  • Conditions: For Three Year Olds And Upward Foaled In New York State And Approved By The New York State-Bred Registry Which Have Never Won $13,000 Twice Other Than Maiden, Claiming, Or Starter Or Which Have Never Won Three Races Or Optional Claiming Price Of $40,000

Race 8 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Twisted Tom, R Gutierrez, 3/1
  • 1A I Love Jaxson, J Lezcano, 3/1
  • 2 Not That Brady, R R Maragh, 5/1
  • 3 Winston’s Chance, K Carmouche, 10/1
  • 4 Foolish Ghost, SCRATCHED
  • 5 Blugrascat’s Smile, E Cancel, 8/1
  • 6 Durkin’s Call, J L Ortiz, 10/1
  • 7 Doups Point, J Alvarado, 6/1
  • 8 Big Mountain, D Davis, 15/1
  • 9 Pipes, SCRATCHED
  • 10 Our Last Buck, M Franco, 7/2

Coupled Entries – 1 – Twisted Tom, 1A – I Love Jaxson

Race 8 Prediction and Pick

The coupled entries are the 3/1 moneyline favorites in this race, and my money is on the 1A horse, I Love Jaxon, ridden by Jose Lezcano. This five-year-old gelding moneyed in seven of his 19 career starts, with six of those wins.

Race 8 Tip

The 10/1 moneyline on Winston’s Chance, with Kendrick Carmouche aboard, looks undervalued to me. This seven-year-old gelding finished in the money in 20 of his 30 career starts, with nine of them wins. Worth a show ticket, if not a win bet.

  • Twisted Tom/I Love Jaxon

RACE 9 – Gold Fever Stakes

  • Post Time: 5:36 PM
  • Purse: $80,000
  • Type: STAKES
  • Distance: 6 furlongs
  • Conditions: For Three Year Olds

Race 9 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Premier Star, SCRATCHED
  • 2 Newstome, M Franco, 6/1
  • 3 Hopeful Treasure, R Silvera, 15/1
  • 4 Listentoyourheart, J Alvarado, 10/1
  • 5 Wondrwherecraigis, J Lezcano, 5/1
  • 6 Long Weekend, J L Ortiz, 1/2
  • 7 Liam’s Pride, D Davis, 15/1

Race 9 Prediction and Pick

Sometimes you just have to go where fate insists you go—so I’m going with the 1/2 favorite Long Weekend, with Jose L. Ortiz aboard. Think I was joking about fate? This three-year-old colt won four of his five career starts, and his pilot is the winningest jockey in this race.

Race 9 Tip

Speaking of rushing in where angels fear to tread, I think Hopeful Treasure at 15/1 and with Ruben Silvera aboard is undervalued here. This ridgeling moneyed in five of his six career starts, winning three of them. Certainly worth a show bet.
