Seven points separate Dortmund from top-of-the-table Bayern Munich, and it looks now as if another valiant effort to knock the Bavarians off their perch is going to fail.

Maybe these odds would be slightly closer if Fortuna Dusseldorf was able to rely on the passionate support of its fans. But with games still being played behind closed doors, BetOnline has decided that Dortmund should have no trouble picking up another win to consolidate its top-four spot. Although I agree with the reading of the game, I do think the odds seem a little long for the draw.

Dusseldorf picked up another valuable point last weekend thanks to a 2-2 draw at home with a Hoffenheim side hoping to finish in the top six this year. Two goals from returning captain Rouwen Hennings did the trick for the home side, but single points are not really enough at the moment.

Fortuna still sits three behind Mainz and will be competing in the relegation playoff game — at best — if it is unable to catch its rivals. But a game against Leipzig comes up after this one, so there really is no time to waste. If Hennings can inspire, or even grab, an early goal again, then the home side might have a chance of getting something from this one.

Dortmund was missing Haaland, Hummels, and Reus as it took on a resurgent Hertha Berlin on matchday 30, but still just about managed to win the game thanks to a second-half goal from Emre Can. The Berlin team has looked like a different set of players since the restart, but Dortmund deserved the points as it mounted wave after wave of attacks throughout.

Theoretically, this fixture should be easier for the Yellow-Blacks. Dusseldorf has drawn the majority of its games since the resumption of play and was well beaten by Bayern the other week in the only fixture against a top-four side it has faced. It shouldn’t really matter if Lucien Favre is missing some of his star players here, as there is plenty of depth in the squad.

That loss to Bayern the other week effectively ended the title race, but Dortmund has continued to do everything it can to push the reigning champions all the way in the meantime. Dusseldorf is fighting for its Bundesliga life, but the visiting team here is such an attacking force, it sometimes seems like only a matter of time before a goal is scored.
