Fonner Park Picks for Wednesday, May 13, 2020 – Free Horse Racing Betting Tips

Fonner Park thoroughbred racing continues on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, with a nine-race card of claiming races.

The forecast in Grand Island, Nebraska, for Wednesday calls for scattered showers, highs in the mid-60s, and winds around 17 mph.

While I cover the three richest races here, you can always find the full list of Fonner Park races, entries, jockeys, and wagering options at one of our recommended sites for betting on horse racing.

Post time for the first race at Fonner Park on Wednesday is 4 PM (CDT). My picks and tips for today follow below.

  • Post Time: 4:54 PM
  • Purse: $7,040
  • Distance: 6 furlongs
  • Conditions: For Certified Nebraska Bred Maidens, Three Years Old And Upward

Race 3 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Tiz a Magic Man, A Martinez, 10/1
  • 2 Trip Code, N Haar, 12/1
  • 3 Terrific Jo, T Hynes, 15/1
  • 4 Pete and Repete, D Wood, 7/2
  • 5 Ragtop Red, F Arrieta, 10/1
  • 6 P R Streakin, B McNeil, 9/2
  • 7 Pickles N Me, J L Olesiak, 6/1
  • 8 J Train, R Martinez, 5/2
  • 9 Mr Mon, C Fackler, 8/1

Race 3 Prediction and Pick

Of the three moneyline favorites, P R Streakin at 9/2 seems the likeliest victor in this maiden race. This four-year-old gelding has eight starts with four money finishes, and with Bryan McNeil aboard, a win seems even more likely.

Race 3 Tip

At 12/1, Trip Code, piloted by Nathan Haar, could be a surprise upset. Starting from an early post position, this three-year-old gelding has two career starts with one finish in the money. Incidentally, Haar has a slightly better win/WPS score than most of his competition.

  • P R Streakin

  • Post Time: 5:21 PM
  • Purse: $8,400
  • Distance: 6 furlongs
  • Conditions: For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward Which Have Never Won Four Races Or Claiming Price $10,000

Race 4 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Behold That Word, D Wood, 8/1
  • 2 Shady Lane, F Arrieta, 3/1
  • 3 Cheverie, A Martinez, 7/2
  • 4 Wirewirewire, S A Bethke, 10/1
  • 5 Global Exchange, J L Olesiak, 5/2
  • 6 Ornamental Iron, C Fackler, 6/1
  • 7 Let’s Go Places, R Martinez, 6/1

Race 4 Prediction and Pick

This could be a tight race, with the three favorites at 5/2, 3/1, and 7/2, respectively. I like the second-favored filly at 3/1—Shady Lane, with Francisco Arrieta aboard. This four-year-old has a solid record of 21 career starts, 14 in the money, with 6 of those wins. And Arrieta has enviable wins/WPS stats. With the near-pole starting position, this seems like a definite.

Race 4 Tip

The longest shot I’d consider in this race is 6/1, and of the two horses with those odds, I think Let’s Go Places, ridden by Ricardo Martinez, is the one who could do the job. With 26 career starts, 20 money finishes (five of those wins), this is an iffy bet.

  • Shady Lane

  • Post Time: 7:36 PM
  • Purse: $6,100
  • Type: CLAIMING
  • Distance: 1 mile
  • Conditions: For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward

Race 9 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Deeya’s Bling, B McNeil, 12/1
  • 2 Emerald Point, D Wood, 10/1
  • 3 Mongol Call, M T Luark, 8/1
  • 4 Moonfield, J L Olesiak, 7/2
  • 5 Emily’s Pegasus, F Arrieta, 6/1
  • 6 Charmin Dixie, J Journet, 9/2
  • 7 Fianna Hills, A Martinez, 3/1
  • 8 Miss Ellie’s Girl, F J Manrrique, 12/1
  • 9 River Deputy, C Fackler, 8/1

Race 9 Prediction and Pick

With an overvalued favorite, I think this race goes to the second-favored, Moonfield at 7/2 moneyline. This four-year-old filly has 21 career starts, 8 money finishes, 5 of which were wins. With veteran jockey Jake Olesiak aboard, Moonfield should have no problem besting both the favorite (Fianna Hills) and the third-favored Charmin Dixie.

Race 9 Tip

At 8/1, this isn’t exactly a longshot, but you might consider a wager on Mongol Call, with Mike Luark aboard. This seven-year-old mare has a good record: 46 career starts, 28 money finishes, with nine of those wins. It could happen.
