FC Seoul vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors Betting Preview – K League 1, June 6

It might be early in the new K League 1 season, but this is a huge game for FC Seoul, who has started the campaign off in a more inconsistent manner than would have been hoped.

Reigning champions Jeonbuk are the visitors on Saturday, and a positive result is needed if the capital city club is to push into the top half of the table.

BetOnline seems to think that Jeonbuk’s defeat to Gangwon last weekend was more of a momentary blip, rather than the start of anything bigger, and made the Green Warriors the favorite to get back to winning ways. After two good wins against Gwangju and Pohang Steelers, it was a cruel stoppage time goal from Tomislav Kis that saw FC Seoul fall to Seongnam last weekend. It is very early days at the moment, so a win might have seen Choi Yong-soo’s side top the league, but the manner of the defeat was a bitter blow.

The visit of Jeonbuk coming off a defeat of its own might be seen as a positive for the home side. The champions will know that they won’t get everything their own way this season now and might still be hurting from the loss last weekend. If top players can make it back from injury, then FC Seoul will fancy itself here.

But Jeonbuk has shown over the years that it is one of the best sides that South Korea has ever seen. The league titles over the last few years have proved that, and now it must come back from a surprising defeat to Gwangon to reassert itself at the top of the table.

The early sending off of Hong Jeong-ho played a big part in how the rest of that game went on Saturday, and it was no surprise when an impressive-looking Gangwon side took the lead just before half time. Coming back from that defeat will be a statement of intent for Jeonbuk, but FC Seoul will be no pushover.

There will be many K League 1 fans expecting Jeonbuk to get back to winning ways this weekend after dropping points for the first time last time out. But FC Seoul had looked good before the loss to Seongnam, and a draw would be a good result for the home side on Saturday. The odds also look better value than the other options.
