It has been a tough season for both these clubs — on and off the field — and now they meet on Saturday, knowing that a victory could be a huge step towards safety this year.
FC Minsk is in deeper trouble but does have at least one game in hand over the majority of its closest rivals. Whether the capital city club can gain points from those extra games is another question entirely, though.
Let’s take a look at the odds before I dive into my FC Minsk vs. Slavia Mozyr prediction and betting pick.
FC Minsk vs. Slavia Mozyr Odds
FC Minsk to Win+134
Slavia Mozyr to Win+175
Slavia Mozyr may be higher up in the league table than FC Minsk, but it is the home side that is considered to be the favorite to win this one by MyBookie. There is little in FC Minsk’s recent results to suggest that that is possible, but Slavia has been struggling for form as well and does not inspire too much confidence. The draw bet may be the best way to go here.
Since FC Minsk was forced to postpone two games at the end of May, there have been just two victories to celebrate, and it has found itself becoming part of the Belarusian Premier League relegation battle this season. Results were not incredibly good beforehand, to be fair, but it has been a bleak few months for Vadim Skripchenko’s men.
The 1-0 defeat to Rukh Brest last weekend was, at least, a better performance than the thrashing at the hands of BATE the week before. But if Belshina and Smolevichi were able to put a good run together, FC Minsk would be in real trouble. It will be able to catch up with one of its games next week when most of the other clubs take a rest, but as Neman is the opponent, there seems little chance of bridging the points gap.
But taking three points from this fixture may be just about possible for the home side. That’s not because FC Minsk is playing well but because Slavia Mozyr continues to be one of the most inconsistent clubs in the Belarusian Premier League. If the defensive mistakes of last week’s game with Isloch are repeated on Saturday, then FC Minsk should have no trouble at all posting the win.
That game against one of the smaller Minsk clubs ended in a 4-2 defeat and featured some calamitous defending that gave Slavia no chance at all to pick up any points. The result made it just one win in the last five games, and if it is repeated this weekend, Slavia could drop into the relegation playoff spot.
FC Minsk vs. Slavia Mozyr Prediction and Pick
The only things going for Slavia Mozyr at the moment are that there are a number of sides in the league struggling for form and that its defense can surely not play as badly as it did last week again. FC Minsk still doesn’t look back to peak fitness, though, so the odds for the draw look the most attractive here.
