We have another exciting Double Gameweek in Fantasy Premier League. The Gameweek 28 schedule means that all 20 teams are in action this weekend before eight sides play again on Thursday, March 10.

Thanks to Chelsea’s FA Cup win in midweek, the Blues double up in Gameweek 28. Aston Villa, Leeds, Newcastle, Norwich, Southampton, Watford, and Wolves also play twice.

This Fantasy Premier League guide for Gameweek 28 contains many helpful FPL tips. I cover the best FPL players for Gameweek 28, top transfer targets, differentials, and more. I also share my FPL rankings at the end.

With a total of 14 FPL fixtures to attack in GW28, there are plenty of points to be earned in the coming days. Let’s kick things off by checking out the Gameweek 28 schedule in full.

Of course, Chelsea is the standout Double Gameweek team. FPL managers will also be interested in Wolves, Aston Villa, and Southampton assets. In truth, there are tons of players to target for Gameweek 28.

Before I go over my top five differentials and share my rankings, let’s look at the best FPL players for Gameweek 28.

Top FPL Players for Gameweek 28 – Best 5 Picks

Here are my top five players for FPL Gameweek 28. You probably won’t be surprised that a couple of Chelsea stars feature in this section, alongside Aston Villa, Leeds, and Wolves players.

Reece James, Chelsea (£6.2m)

Reece James is back!

Before getting injured, the wing-back bagged four goals and five assists in a 12-game hot streak between August and December. He has yet to feature in the EPL in 2022, but he returned to the EFL Cup final before playing in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

James was a hugely popular FPL pick during the first half of the season, but his injury forced most FPL managers to get rid of him. With Chelsea playing twice in GW28, now feels like the perfect time to recall him.

Mason Mount, Chelsea (£7.5m)

Like James, Mason Mount missed a handful of recent games due to injury. However, the 23-year-old midfielder is back in action and ready to rack up FPL points again.

We all know that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is spoiled for choice in the midfield department, but Mount is always one of the first names on the teamsheet. That means he has the potential to pick up plenty of points in the Double Gameweek.

Mount has notched seven goals and six assists in 21 Premier League appearances this season. He will be confident of adding to his tally against Burnley and Norwich.

Philippe Coutinho, Aston Villa (£7.4m)

After his loan move from Barcelona, Philippe Coutinho made a flying start to his Aston Villa career. The Brazilian bagged two goals and two assists across his first three EPL games, reminding everyone of his talent.

Although the former Liverpool star has blanked in the past three games, Villa manager Steven Gerrard has continued to trust him. It is undoubtedly just a matter of time before he starts contributing again.

The Villains come up against Southampton at the weekend before facing Leeds on Thursday. Let’s not forget that Leeds has the worst defensive record in the Premier League, conceding 60 goals in 26 games.

Raphinha, Leeds United (£6.5m)

In my eyes, Raphinha is the best FPL midfielder under £7.0m.

The tricky winger invariably finds himself at the heart of the action for Leeds, so I’m confident that he will enjoy success against Leicester and Aston Villa in Gameweek 28.

Raphinha has chalked up nine goals and two assists in the EPL this season. Jack Harrison is his nearest challenger in the Leeds squad with four goals and one assist to his name. That tells you everything you need to know about Raphinha’s influence.

Jose Sa, Wolverhampton Wanderers (£5.3m)

Many FPL managers will, understandably, be drawn towards Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy for the upcoming Double Gameweek. But I can see Wolves’ Jose Sa outscoring Mendy.

Only the top three teams have conceded fewer Premier League goals than Wolves this season. As a result, no goalkeeper has accumulated more FPL points than Jose Sa.

Goalkeeper Team FPL Points
Ederson Manchester City 115
Jose Sa Wolverhampton Wanderers 115
Alisson Liverpool 114
David De Gea Manchester United 110
Aarom Ramsdale Arsenal 105

Wolves have two favorable fixtures in GW28 – Crystal Palace and Watford. The Eagles have struggled for consistency throughout the campaign, while the Hornets – who are second from bottom in the EPL standings – are the fourth-lowest scorers in the division.

Best Gameweek 28 FPL Differentials

Are you looking for the best Fantasy Premier League differentials to take you up the rankings? This section examines five FPL differentials for Gameweek 28, all of which boast less than 3.5% ownership.

Kai Havertz, Chelsea (£7.8m)

With Romelu Lukaku enduring an indifferent period at Chelsea, Tuchel has called upon Kai Havertz to lead the line for Blues in recent games. For that reason, I expect the German to get plenty of game time against Burnley and Norwich.

Despite sitting on seven goals and four assists for the season, Havertz is owned by just 3.2% of FPL managers. He could prove to be an excellent differential in Gameweek 28.

Christian Pulisic, Chelsea (£7.9m)

Another Chelsea differential to consider is Christian Pulisic. Believe it or not, the American’s ownership is just 0.7% as the Blues head into their favorable Double Gameweek.

Granted, Pulisic is not as prolific as Havertz; he has managed to rack up four goals and three assists this season. But he has played the full 90 minutes in six of his last seven Premier League appearances, meaning he should feature heavily in the next two games.

He remains one of the best US players to play in the EPL. See who else joins that list in this post.

John McGinn, Aston Villa (£5.7m)

Many FPL managers aiming to transfer in an Aston Villa midfielder for the Double Gameweek will likely look at players like Coutinho, Emi Buendia, and Jacob Ramsey. But what about John McGinn?

Owned by just 1.1% of FPL managers, only five Villa players have scored more FPL points than McGinn this season. The Scotland international has featured in all but three of Villa’s EPL games in 2021-22, notching three goals and two assists along the way.

Daniel James, Leeds United (£6.0m)

With Patrick Bamford continuing to recover from injury, Daniel James is Leeds’ first-choice forward at the moment. Although James is Leeds’ second-highest scorer in Fantasy Premier League, he owns just 1.0%.

Since moving from Manchester United to Elland Road, the Welshman has chalked up four goals and three assists. He will fancy adding to that tally when he comes up against Leicester and Villa.

Rayan Ait Nouri, Wolverhampton Wanderers (£4.4m)

It feels like a Wolves defender is a necessity for Double Gameweek 28. Not only do the Wanderers boast the fourth-best defensive record in the EPL, but they also have two good fixtures on the horizon.

Conor Coady (14.4%) is the most popular Wolves defender, ahead of Romain Saiss (3.4%) and Max Kilman (3.2%). However, with an ownership of just 2.0%, Rayan Ait Nouri looks like an ideal FPL differential for Gameweek 28.

FPL Rankings at Each Position for Gameweek 28

My FPL rankings rate the top five players at each position for Gameweek 28. Although I have already mentioned some of the names below, you can still find plenty of top FPL players in this section.

Best Goalkeepers

  • Jose Sa, Wolverhampton Wanderers (£5.2m)
  • Edouard Mendy, Chelsea (£6.1m)
  • Emi Martinez, Aston Villa (£5.5m)
  • Martin Dubravka, Newcastle United (£4.4m)
  • Fraser Forster, Southampton (£4.4m)

There is no denying that Sa and Mendy are the best FPL goalkeepers for Gameweek 28. If you want to go against the grain, though, Emi Martinez, Martin Dubravka, and Fraser Forster are worth considering.

Dubravka has kept three clean sheets in his last five EPL appearances. It is also worth noting that Newcastle plays twice in Gameweek 29, meaning Dubravka could prove to be an excellent long-term goalkeeper option.

Best Defenders

  • Reece James, Chelsea (£6.2m)
  • Antonio Rudiger, Chelsea (£6.1m)
  • Conor Coady, Wolverhampton Wanderers (£4.8m)
  • Romain Saiss, Wolverhampton Wanderers (£5.0m)
  • Matty Cash, Aston Villa (£5.1m)

As you can see, Chelsea and Wolves players dominate my ranking of the top defenders for FPL Gameweek 28. James and Rudiger are the best picks for the Blues, while Coady and Saiss are the Wanderers’ best options in this department.

I have also included Matty Cash here. The right-back scored his second Premier League goal last weekend while helping Villa keep a clean sheet. Consequently, he is now the highest-scoring Villa player in FPL.

Best Midfielders

  • Mason Mount, Chelsea (£7.5m)
  • Philippe Coutinho, Aston Villa (£7.4m)
  • Raphinha, Leeds United (£6.5m)
  • Kai Havertz, Chelsea (£7.8m)
  • James Ward-Prowse, Southampton (£6.5m)

I have already touched on Mount, Coutinho, Raphinha, and Havertz, but I haven’t mentioned James Ward-Prowse. At his moment in time, it is impossible to ignore the Southampton captain when it comes to making FPL transfers.

In midweek, Ward-Prowse scored in the FA Cup, meaning he has bagged five goals and five assists in his past 13 games across all competitions. It could be argued that he is the best set-piece taker in the Premier League.

Best Forwards

  • Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea (£11.5m)
  • Raul Jimenez, Wolverhampton Wanderers (£7.5m)
  • Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa (£7.5m)
  • Armando Broja, Southampton (£5.5m)
  • Teemu Pukki, Norwich City (£5.8m)

Admittedly, the forward options for the Double Gameweek teams are not overly exciting. Romelu Lukaku could prove to be a shrewd pick, but he is extremely expensive for a player who is struggling for consistency.

Raul Jimenez, Ollie Watkins, Armando Broja, and Teemu Pukki play twice in GW28. All of them have the potential to score points in the coming days, so be sure to analyze the fixtures before making your selections.

More Fantasy Premier League Tips for Gameweek 28

Remember – the Gameweek 28 deadline is 11:00 (GMT) on Saturday, March 5. Make sure you finalize your FPL transfers before then, whether you’re using the Wildcard, Free Hit, or avoiding chips altogether this week.

With eight teams doubling up in GW28, there is no shortage of chances to rack up FPL points in the coming days. However, you must assess the FPL fixtures and plan for future gameweeks.

Arsenal, Brighton, Everton, Liverpool, and Tottenham all play twice in Gameweek 29, while Newcastle is the only team that doubles up in GW28 and GW29. In Gameweek 30, a total of ten teams’ blank!
