Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves Betting Preview and Prediction

I’m pretty sure that the match between Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves from the ESL One Road to Rio is among the most anticipated esports events on Friday. Both teams were among the contenders for the top spots in Group A before the start of the competition, but one of them failed to deliver in the opener.

I go through the performance of each side so far in my Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves betting preview and also explored the latest odds available. In the end, I wrap everything up with my prediction and a free betting pick.

Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves Latest Odds and Lines

  • 100 Thieves to win; +158
  • Evil Geniuses (-1.5); +149
  • 100 Thieves (+1.5); -189

The Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves odds and lines are what BetOnline offers for this match. The bookmaker has another 40 markets or so and accepts large stakes which is why I picked it.

Evil Geniuses Analysis

I expected a strong start by Evil Geniuses against Orgless and that’s almost what I got. The team was slightly rusty in the early rounds of the opening map but improved to close it and then left no chance to the opposition on the next one.

It wasn’t the best performance of EG I’ve seen, but it was enough for a clean sweep. I expect a more focused start against 100 Thieves and the Geniuses should be able to dominate this clash too.

100 Thieves Analysis

100 Thieves was one of the most disappointing teams in the first round of the ESL One Road to Rio. It’s true that Gen.G had an excellent match, but I expect more resistance by a talented squad like 100 Thieves.

Instead, both the strategy and execution were all over the place, even on the team’s own map pick. A similar performance against Evil Geniuses will bring a similar result, so 100 Thieves needs to find a way to improve dramatically in the second round.

Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves Prediction and Pick

  • Evil Geniuses (-1.5); +149

Based on what we saw in the first round, my prediction is that Evil Geniuses should have no issues winning this match. The big question here is if 100 Thieves can win even a single map. I’m inclined to say no and the price of +149 for the favorite to clean the -1.5 map advantage is way too high.

In my opinion, this is by far the best betting pick available. If you don’t want to risk it, simply backing Evil Geniuses for -227 is fine too.

That’s not the only bet I have for you today. I recommend you to check my recommended esports betting tips for Friday for a couple of other picks.
