Best Esports Bets for Thursday, May 7, 2020

Thursday will be quiet in terms of esports matches, at least in comparison to most days this week. We still have exciting CS:GO matches thanks to the ESL One Road to Rio, a tiebreaker in the Dota 2 Pushka League, and some LoL action too.

That’s more than enough for my traditional esports betting tips for today and I cover all three games in my picks. Each of my best esports bets for Thursday has recommended odds and analysis included, so you can make an informed decision on whether you want to follow them.

forZe (-1.5) vs. Unique

  • Game: CS:GO
  • Tournament: ESL One Road to Rio, CIS
  • Starting time: 6 am Pacific Time
  • Odds: -222
  • Where to bet: BetOnline

I’m not the biggest fan of prices of -200 or lower, but I felt obliged to include this one in my esports betting tips for today. Unique played three matches so far and not only failed to win a single map, but didn’t even reach double digits once.

I expect something similar against the decent forZe side today. The squad had its own problems at the start of the ESL One Road to Rio, losing the first two matches. However, forZe bounced back with an impressive 2-0 victory against Winstrike and another clean sweep today makes a lot of sense.

OG Seed to Beat Nigma

  • Game: Dota 2
  • Tournament: Pushka League Division 1
  • Starting time: 7 am Pacific Time
  • Odds: +130
  • Where to bet: 10bet

Let’s continue the esports picks for Thursday with the Pushka League Division 1 tiebreaker. OG Seed will meet Nigma in a match that will determine which team will get relegated to Division 2 of the competition next season.

Both sides have been abysmal so far and have registered only one victory. Nigma’s lone win came against the today’s opponent, but it was a close match that could’ve gone either way. Furthermore, the team won only one game outside of that and looked lost after the latest Dota 2 patch.

OG Seed had several other close encounter and pushed the likes of Alliance and Ninjas in Pyjamas to the limit before losing. That’s why I like their chances in this best-of-one clash and I’m not sure why the price is so high.

You can get +130 for OG seed to win which is excellent value and of the best esports bets for today, in my opinion.

c0ntact (+1.5) vs G2 Esports

  • Game: CS:GO
  • Tournament: ESL One Road to Rio, EU
  • Starting time: 9:30 am Pacific Time
  • Odds: +142
  • Where to bet:

No team in the ESL One Road to Rio, EU has managed to dominate c0ntact up this point and yet, the team has registered five defeats so far in the competition, all by the scoreline 2-1. That’s crazy and the guys will certainly feel disappointed by the lack of victories.

They have one more chance to win today, though, and the pressure will be on their opponents. G2 is second in Group B right now but a defeat on Thursday could see the team drop out of the playoffs.

It’s going to be a nervy match for the favorite and I believe that c0ntact will once again secure at least one map. The price of +142 for that to happen is great, so I had to go for it.

Additional Esports Betting Tips for Thursday, May 7th

  • GamersOrigin vs. K1CK Neosurf over 2.5; -102
  • 100 Thieves to beat Team Liquid; +155
  • North vs. Movistar Riders over 2.5; -114

The reasoning for the last three of my best esports bets for today can be found below, but let me give you another piece of advice before that. You should always try to get the highest prices possible, so make sure to check how the odds of the top bookmakers online are moving. Here are a couple of them that offer good prices regularly.

If you are experiencing déjà vu by looking at my GamersOrigin vs. K1CK Neosurf pick, there’s nothing wrong with you. I had this one yesterday too because the match was supposed to take place on Wednesday according to most sources.

It’s scheduled for today after all and that doesn’t change my stance. K1CK Neosurf showed a lot of resilience in the LoL European Masters so far and should be able to push the opponent to the limit.

Next in line is the ESL One Road to Rio, NA quarterfinal between 100 Thieves and Team Liquid. This one should be a cracking match and I think it’s a coin toss which is why I’m surprised by the odds.

Sure, Team Liquid is stronger on paper, but 100 Thieves did extremely well in the group stages and finished on a high after a convincing victory over the strong Cloud9 that is already in the last 4. The price of +155 of 100T is simply too good and certainly among the best esports bets for today.

I have another ESL One Road to Rio match in my esports betting tips, this time from the European region. I expect a tight battle between North and Movistar Riders, as both sides have shown a lot of potential so far in the competition.

They are also chasing a spot in the playoffs, so the stakes will be really high. A couple of months ago, North would have been a huge favorite but Movistar has improved immensely recently, so over 2.5 maps makes the most sense.
