Esports Betting Tips for Thursday, August 6th – Today’s Picks and Predictions for CS:GO, Dota 2, and LoL

| August 6, 2020 12:13 am PDT

There are some big esports events coming up this weekend but before we lock in on those, there’s still a lot of value to be had at the currently ongoing tournaments.

Several crunch ties are awaiting the Dota 2, CS:GO, and League of Legends teams that are currently active, and my top esports picks for August 6th feature a look at several of the most highly-anticipated matchups.

The predictions all come with the latest odds and the best markets to target and I start off with the Upper Bracket Final in the European bracket of the CS:GO ESEA MDL League.

AGO vs. Sprout Over 2.5

  • Game: CS:GO
  • Tournament: ESEA MDL League Season 33 Europe Finals
  • Starting time: 08:00 AM Pacific Time
  • Odds: -102
  • Where to bet: BetOnline

Polish side AGO ROGUE will be taking on Germans Sprout today in an effort to reach the Grand Final of the current ESEA MDL League.

These organizations have not featured on the competitive scene in the past month, so I’m expecting a cautious approach from both of them here.

Sprout’s most recent involvement came in the HellCase Cup where they finished 3rd after falling to both Nemiga and Hard Legion in the closing stages of the tournament.

Their opponents today contested the first week of the Malta Vibes Cup and were narrowly beaten by Nordavind in the Grand Final.

I expect the teams will be a bit rusty and there is bound to be big pressure given the high stakes and the fact that the winning team will get an advantage coming into the Grand Final.

Most of the past meetings between these two squads have been tight with the Germans having a slight advantage.

AGO will almost definitely wave Mirage as that’s where Sprout has had the upper hand in previous matchups.

On the flip side, the Germans will want to avoid Vertigo as their opponent’s record there is terrific.

The Poles will go for either Inferno or Train where they hold an advantage but Sprout can be extremely dangerous on Nuke, Dust II, and Overpass when on point.

Given the circumstances, I believe the best way to approach this is by going with the Over 2.5 market.

I don’t see any of these teams being able to dominate the entire series, especially on their opponent’s map pick.

This should be a cagey encounter and these usually go to a decisive third round, so the odds of -102 are more than fair in my view.

Omegalil to Win vs. Team Voldemort

  • Game: Dota 2
  • Tournament: OMEGA League Europe Qualifiers
  • Starting time: 11:15 AM Pacific Time
  • Odds: -333
  • Where to bet:

Omegalil is the huge favorite against Team Voldemort today and despite the low price, I believe this is one of the biggest value bets you can place today.

The Voldemort boys are nowhere near the level of their opponents and I’m expecting Omegalil to come out all guns blazing given how prestigious getting into the OMEGA League is.

The favorites looked very solid against the higher-ranked HellRaisers yesterday and their superior drafting process and ability to make the most out of the laning phase should allow them to quickly brush aside the underdogs today.

More details on the matchup and this prediction are available over at my colleague’s exclusive Omegalil vs. Team Voldemort betting preview.

Team Queso to Win vs. UCAM Club

  • Game: LoL
  • Tournament: LVP Superliga 2020
  • Starting time: 12:00 Noon Pacific Time
  • Odds: -112
  • Where to bet: Betway

Another high-stakes game awaits us at the LoL LVP Superliga tournament.

Both Team Queso and UCAM Club have a chance to catch the last train for the playoffs today and I’m expecting a very tense encounter.

UCAM did well to negate a poor start to the event but recent losses against Vodafone Giants and S2V Esports have left them hanging by a thread.

I believe the momentum is on the side of Queso who are coming into this decisive game on the back of solid wins against playoff hopefuls MAD Lions and Cream Real Betis.

On top of that, they’ve beaten UCAM twice in a row and will be confident that they can repeat the feat today.

Betway’s odds of -112 present a great deal in these circumstances and that would be my final betting pick here.

And now for the remaining top esports picks of the day:

  • MAD Lions to win vs. Cream Real Betis; -115
  • Infamous to win vs. Omega Gaming; -357

Another crunch tie at the LVP Superliga pins together LoL squads MAD Lions and Cream Real Betis.

The Betis boys looked good value to reach the playoffs early in the tournament but have fallen off a cliff in the last month and are in danger of missing out should they lose to their opponents today.

Despite recent defeats against UCAM and Queso, the Lions stood firm against higher-ranked S2V Esports and G2 Arctic which gives them a huge chance to catch the playoffs if they win this last group fixture.

Cream Real Betis did beat them in the previous rounds, but on account of their better experience in such situations, I’m backing The Lions to roar to victory here and the odds of -115 make for a great prize.

And with my last pick, I’m going with a win for Infamous against Omega Gaming.

These Dota 2 teams will be facing off at the Movistar Liga Pro’s first playoff round today and as you can see from the price, INF is the big favorite here.

Omega Gaming has had a good run lately but they have mostly been playing in lower-tier tournaments, while their opponents today are regularly contesting the elite Dota organizations.

You won’t find high odds for this bet but I fail to see how Omega will be able to outjump themselves here.
