Best Esports Bets for Friday, May 15, 2020

Friday will bring us a lot of interesting esports events and I’m here to cover the betting angle around them. We have the ESL One Road to Rio matches in Europe and CIS, other CS:GO tournaments, the GWB 2020 starts today, so yeah, a lot of action!

My esports betting tips for today go through some of the most exciting matches and include my top esports bets with short reasoning and recommended odds. I stick to only Dota 2 and CS:GO today because that’s where I found the most value.

Team Spirit to Beat Virtus.pro

  • Game: CS:GO
  • Tournament: ESL One Road to Rio, CIS
  • Starting time: 4:00 am Pacific Time
  • Odds: -175
  • Where to bet: SportsBetting.ag

Let’s begin my esports betting picks with a match from the ESL One Road to Rio, CIS. You would expect the region to be dominated by Natus Vincere, but the world number one was way below-par and was eliminated after the group stage.

That opens the door for everyone else and I believe that Team Spirit is the side with the biggest chance to take advantage of the favorite’s failure. The squad won Group A without losing a single match and has all the momentum going forward.

Virtus.pro is a decent opponent which is why I feel reluctant to back the -1.5 handicap, but Spirit has too much confidence at the moment and should able to handle the opposition on Friday.

Team Secret (-1.5) vs. NiP

  • Game: Dota 2
  • Tournament: Gamers Without Borders 2020
  • Starting time: 9:00 am Pacific Time
  • Odds: -156
  • Where to bet: 10Bet

The Gamers Without Borders 2020 starts today and if you have been watching Dota 2 lately, you know who’s the big favorite. Team Secret has been crushing everyone else with ease and with $1.5 million on the line in this tournament, I kinda of think the squad will take it seriously.

There are no second chances in the GWB which is another reason to expect the best of Secret. The guys are miles ahead of everyone else right now in terms of both drafting and execution in the new Dota 2 meta and I don’t think that anyone has caught them.

No disrespect to NiP who have been decent and crushed Virtus.pro in the OGA PIT just yesterday, but Secret looks unstoppable right now. That’s why I included the price of -156 for the favorite to cover the -1.5 handicap to my recommended esports betting tips for today.

Vitality to Beat G2

  • Game: CS:GO
  • Tournament: ESL One Road to Rio, EU
  • Starting time: 7:30 am Pacific Time
  • Odds: -143
  • Where to bet: BetOnline

I had my doubts about Vitality’s ability to mount a serious challenge in the ESL One Road to Rio, but the victory over NiP yesterday was nothing short of exceptional. The team had to face a strong opponent that’s in a good form and fight throughout three maps.

The result was an impressive victory that was earned by performing collectively and not just by relying on ZywOo. I think this win could be a turning point for Vitality and I believe the team should beat G2 Esports next.

The squad struggled against Team Heretics in the previous round and similar performance on Friday should be the end of the road.  I was tempted to back Vitality to cover the -1.5 maps handicap, but the price of -143 for a straight victory is high enough and one of the best esports bets today.

More Esports Betting Tips for Friday, May 15th

  • FlyToMoon to beat Virtus.pro; +127
  • Team Liquid to beat Alliance; -132
  • Astralis (-1.5) vs. FaZe Clan; +140

I explain the logic behind the last three of my esports betting tips for today below, but let me add a piece of advice before that. The odds might very well move by the time you’re reading this and this could work in your favor. Make sure to check what the top sites out there offer, here are a couple that I like.

Time to get back to my esports predictions for Friday. Virtus.pro will play both in the GWB and the Epic Prime League today. Considering the prize pools, the former will be the main priority, so I believe we might see the team underperform in the other tournament.

FlyToMoon has all the means to take full advantage of any complacency and it’s not like VP has been impressive recently anyway. Under such circumstances, the price of +127 looks like one of the top choices today.

Another Dota 2 match that deserves a place here is the late GWB clash of the day. Team Liquid had some ups and downs recently, but the overall trajectory has been mostly positive. The squad should be able to handle Alliance on Friday, mostly because of the improved performance in the new meta.

Finally, there’s room for the ESL One Road to Rio Upper Bracket Final in Europe between Astralis and FaZe Clan. The Danes have been in a devastating form recently and they have a positive balance against the same opponent on big occasions, so a clean sweep today won’t shock me.
