Envy vs. Cloud9 Odds, Prediction, and Betting Pick for May 6th – ESL One: Road to Rio, NA

The North American division of the ESL One qualifiers enters its playoff stage today and we are immediately treated to an exciting bout between Team Envy and Cloud9.

The organizations know each other quite well and there is not a lot that separates them right now so the spectacle is guaranteed.

As always, I am eager to explore the betting angle, and my Envy vs. Cloud 9 betting preview for Wednesday does exactly that.

I look at how the teams have been faring lately and share my prediction and a free betting pick.

Let’s start with a look at the betting odds.

Time for the team analysis and I then move on to my prediction and betting pick.

The Canadian organization had a solid run in Group B of the event, racking up three wins from five games.

Teams Yeah and Liquid were soundly beaten and Nifty and his guys wrapped up proceedings with a 2:1 victory against Bad News Bears.

MICHU and Calyx have been showing great form as of late but defeats against Brazilians MIBR and FURIA prove that this team is still not close to effectively challenging the elite.

However, they still pose a threat and will have a score to settle with their old rivals Cloud9.

The Americans started the tournament slowly as they allowed underdogs Triumph to narrowly edge them in a third-round decider on Train.

However, the defeat didn’t cause too much damage. JT managed to rally his troops and lead them to three consecutive wins against Orgless, Evil Geniuses, and Gen.G.

They fell to 100 Thieves in their last group fixture but had already secured qualification and I doubt we will see the same underwhelming performance from floppy, oSee, and motm today.

Cloud9 has edged Envy in their last two encounters but some of the rounds were very close. Nifty and his roster continue to show they have a place at this level and I reckon things will once again be very heated.

The Americans are coming in as the favorite but they let too many teams win a map against them in the group and the losses against 100 Thieves and Triumph mean they are not in their highest gear right now.

It’s true that the playoff stage can bring the best out of some organizations but Envy won’t just stand around. MICHU and Calyx will be eager to make a big impact here and their team’s overwhelming advantage on both Nuke and Mirage should allow them to snatch a round.

As I’m reluctant to go with an outright winner, I will back a three-round game here. With such tight margins between these two teams, it feels like the most logical decision and the odds are still solid.
