Energetik-BGU vs. FC Minsk Odds, Prediction, and Pick – Belarusian Premier League, April 5, 2020
It’s another capital city derby as Energetik-BGU takes on FC Minsk in this round three game. The hosts only came back up to the top flight last season but managed to stay up, largely thanks to the goals of Ilya Shkurin, who has now left the club for CSKA Moscow.
FC Minsk endured a poor 2019 season and will be looking to regain the type of form that saw it win its only piece of silverware — the Belarusian Cup — back in 2013. This campaign has started brightly, though, and it currently sits top of the league after two rounds of fixtures.
This Energetik-BGU vs. FC Minsk betting preview can help you choose your wagers for this match, but you should also make sure you’re only betting with the leading soccer sportsbooks.
Energetik-BGU vs. FC Minsk Betting Odds
This looks like being one of the closer games of the weekend in Belarus as the league leaders take on one of the more exciting teams in the country. The BetOnline sportsbook doesn’t seem to be able to see much difference in the two teams but gives Minsk the favorite tag, probably purely down to current league position.
Energetik-BGU still plays a more attacking brand of soccer than many in the Belarusian Premier League but will definitely miss the goals of Ilya Shkurin this season. That being said, the team has been able to find the net in both games so far and is only below FC Minsk on goal difference after two games.
The outcome of this game will not ultimately have much bearing on where the league title lands this season, but it will be a good indication of which of these two has more chance to mount a prolonged campaign at the top of the table. Energetik-BGU will feel it can take the points at home.
Minsk’s dominance over Dinamo in the last round was masked somewhat by the two second-half goals it conceded to make the final scoreline a more respectable 3-2 win. But three goals in the first half killed off the game entirely, and if that kind of start can be repeated here, it would really put Energetik on the back foot.
Minsk has already scored six goals in just two games and has spread them around the squad, too, which will please head coach Andrey Razin. The fact that on-loan striker Vladimir Khvashchinski is the current top scorer is a real positive, too.
Energetik-BGU vs. FC Minsk Prediction and Pick
FC Minsk to Win+129
Although both these sides have started the new season very brightly and scored a lot of goals in the process, I feel that Minsk has the better all-around play and ability to see off its opponents. The way it allowed Dinamo to come back into the game, even if it was basically over, was a little alarming, but those kinds of errors should not be repeated here.
