Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Mainz Betting Preview – Bundesliga, June 6
It has been a good week for Eintracht Frankfurt, and a win here against struggling Mainz would make it nine points from a possible nine.
But the visiting side really does need a few more points quite quickly itself as it looks to escape the drop to Bundesliga 2. Keep reading for my Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Mainz prediction and betting pick.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Mainz Odds
Although BetOnline has quite rightly made Eintracht Frankfurt the favorite to win this one, I am a little surprised at the relatively short odds offered for Mainz to come away from the Commerzbank Arena with a rare victory.
Although the 3-3 draw with Freiburg gave Frankfurt its first point since the resumption of play in the Bundesliga, it did seem more like two lost. So back-to-back wins against Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen in the last week were very welcome for manager Adi Hutter.
The comprehensive 3-0 win at Bremen was even more important as it came against a club also battling against relegation — and one that had picked up a few good results in the last two weeks. Now Frankfurt is eight points clear of the relegation playoff spot and looking like its top-flight status has just about been preserved.
Mainz, on the other hand, is still in deep trouble. Robin Quaison might be enjoying a surprisingly good season, but his team is not doing enough to pull away from the scrap at the bottom of the table. It was a narrow 1-0 defeat to Hoffenheim last weekend, but it was still a defeat.
Both Dusseldorf and Werder Bremen could overtake Mainz if the results don’t go its way this weekend, so Quaison might be heavily relied upon once again. But even the Swedish strikers’ goals might not be enough, as the Mainz defense has the worst record in the Bundesliga. There will need to be more discipline at the back if Mainz is to have any chance here.
Prediction and Pick
Eintracht Frankfurt to Win-105
A feeling of confidence has suddenly reappeared in Frankfurt. The win away at Wolfsburg was impressive enough, considering the host is pushing for European qualification this season. But the Bremen result topped even that. Now the Eagles will look to win a third consecutive game for the first time this season and consolidate what would be a comfortable mid-table position.
