Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Monchengladbach Betting Preview – Bundesliga, May 16

Both these clubs qualified for the Europa League last season, but only one of them is looking to repeat that feat or even go one better.
Frankfurt lost some very good players in the summer and is now relying on the cup for honors this season. But Monchengladbach has been one of the most entertaining teams in the Bundesliga and has a great chance of Champions League qualification, at the very least.
Read on for my Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Monchengladbach prediction and betting pick.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Monchengladbach Odds
Given the way that Monchengladbach has played this season I am slightly surprised that BetOnline has this game so closely priced. Frankfurt is not the team it was last season and has suffered a number of poor spells already during this campaign. I would have expected much shorter odds for an away win here, so that could be something to keep in mind when choosing a wager.
Match Preview
Losing Luka Jovic and Sebastien Haller in the summer meant a whole new look was needed for Frankfurt’s front line this season, and it has not entirely worked. There have been a few players that were brought in to good effect, but this campaign has been all about consolidation, really.
A slump just before the winter break saw Frankfurt tumble down the table, and although there was a mini revival at the turn of the year, there have been further defeats since. There should be enough points on the board and talent in the squad to avoid a relegation battle, but that is just about all that can be expected now.
Borussia Monchengladbach, on the other hand, has enjoyed another excellent season and will now want to get back to the form that saw it top the table for a stretch in the opening months. There have not been as many goals as its main rivals, but the heroics of keeper Yann Sommer has kept the club in the hunt.
With the game against Bayern in the Allianz Arena looking like the only really troubling fixture in the run in to the end of the season, manager Marco Rose will believe that his side can go at least one better than last year and qualify for the Champions League. But a tilt at the title cannot be entirely ruled out, either.
My Prediction and Pick
-
Borussia Monchengladbach to Win+138
Monchengladbach might be the favorite here, but the odds are still attractive enough for a bet on the title challengers to take all three points. Frankfurt struggled just before the break, and I’m not sure there is enough in the squad this year to compete with the likes of this weekend’s opponent.
