Dynamo Brest vs. Shakhtyor Soligorsk Odds, Prediction, and Pick – Belarusian Cup Semifinal, April 8
The two most recent winners of the Belarusian Cup meet in this semifinal tie, with Shakhtyor Soligorsk the cup holders and Dynamo Brest the current reigning league champions. The new season has started off with mixed results for both clubs, so a little distraction might do them a world of good.
Dynamo Brest actually beat Soligorsk on penalties to win the Belarusian Cup two years ago, so there may also be an element of revenge on the minds of the Shakhtyor players.
Let’s get into it with this Dynamo Brest vs. Shakhtyor Soligorsk Belarusian Cup betting preview.
Latest Betting Odds
Although the home side is made the favorite in this first leg tie, it is a little surprising that the odds for a Dynamo Brest victory are not shorter. BetOnline may be taking into account the hit and miss start to the season that the champions have made, but playing the home leg first gives Brest an excellent opportunity to proceed to the final once again.
Dynamo Brest vs. Shakhtyor Soligorsk Preview
These two sides have not met in the opening three rounds of the new campaign, but their records so far are remarkably similar. Dynamo followed the trend on the opening day by surprisingly drawing with the minnows of Smolevichi. There was a win over Slutsk in the next game, but that was followed with the first loss of the season at the weekend to Slavia Mozyr.
Shakhtyor Soligorsk has the same number of points after kicking off with a defeat to Zhodino and then beating Gorodeya and drawing with Neman. That last game ended goalless as well, so there has been very little to get excited about for either club so far.
Dynamo boss Sergey Kovalchuk will be particularly disappointed that his strikers have not gotten going as yet. Evgeni Shevchenko came in from FC Minsk at the start of the season but has not managed to find the net so far. The only attacker that has gotten off the mark is veteran Artem Milevskyi, and he is not the most reliable player in the squad.
Cup holder Shakhtyor Soligorsk was probably the most convincing of the four winners at the quarterfinal stage in March and might be strangely confident of coming away from Brest with some kind of positive result in this first leg. It is a much-changed squad at the club this year, though, and it doesn’t look as if everything has fitted into place quite yet.
Dynamo Brest vs. Shakhtyor Soligorsk Pick
Dynamo Brest to Win+134
Much like BATE Borisov in the other semifinal, this game gives Dynamo Brest a great opportunity to get going this year, as the league form has been less than impressive so far. The pricing for this game does make me lean towards the home side, too. There have not been many goals scored by either side in the league in the first three games, but Dynamo could sneak a narrow victory here.
