DFS Picks for the 2020 Mayakoba Golf Classic

DFS Picks for the 2020 Mayakoba Golf Classic

Just one more week of fantasy golf on DraftKings before we turn the page to 2021. Are you going to miss out on the action, or are you looking for DFS picks for the Mayakoba Golf Classic?

After studying the field and examining past results at this venue, I’ve got my eye on a six-pack of golfers worth using in GPPs.

Without any further ado, here are my top Mayakoba Golf Classic DFS picks.

Abraham Ancer – $9,900

Abraham Ancer’s game is tailor-made for El Camaleon Golf Club. After producing stellar finishes here during the last three years (8th-21st-9th), perhaps this is the place where Ancer will finally breakthrough.

The world’s 22nd-ranked golfer has removed the “left” miss from his repertoire and has quietly become one of the game’s most dependable players. Hence, Ancer has missed one cut in the last 14 months. Only Dustin Johnson hit more greens in regulation at Augusta.

Russell Henley – $9,300

Russell Henley has finished outside of the top 30 before – he just hasn’t done it during his last eight events.

Two top-5s among his last four starts hint that a W could be on the horizon, especially considering all aspects of Russell’s golf game are in order. The PGA Tour’s leader in scoring average (actual) sits 9th in SG: Tee-to-Green and 6th in scrambling.

More on what makes Henley one of the top DFS picks for the Mayakoba Golf Classic can be found below.

Joel Dahmen – $8,000

Also featured in the link above is Joel Dahmen – one of the purest ball-strikers we have on tour. His capabilities off the tee and with his irons make him a great bet to play well in the Caribbean, and we don’t have to “guess” whether or not he likes this golf course.

Dahmen owns a 68.33 stroke average at El Camaleon GC, having played in each of the last three Mayakoba Golf Classics. More impressively, he’s posted red numbers in all 12 rounds.

Alex Noren – $7,900

After falling to #125 in the OWGR following a missed cut at the Memorial, Alex Noren has seen his game turn around over his last 10 starts. Since the end of July, the 38-year-old Swede has made nine cuts and has finished 18th or better six times.

The last time we saw Noren was two weeks ago at the RSM Classic, where he finished the week off with a bogey-free 65.

Doug Ghim – $7,400

Doug Ghim’s +9000 odds to win the tournament make him one of my favorite sleeper picks for the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Here’s a kid who ranks 8th on the PGA Tour in birdies per round (4.78) and 5th in bounce back (41.03%). The former standout in Austin has landed 23rd or better in four of his five this season and has registered at least one 64 in each of his last two appearances.

All in all, Ghim’s $7,400 price tag on DK seems to be discounted by at least six hundred bucks.

John Huh – $7,400

I mentioned that Russell Henley leads the PGA Tour in scoring average (actual) this season. Now I’ll introduce the man sitting hot on his trail in the second slot.

Say hello to Jon Huh – winner of the 2012 Mayakoba Golf Classic.

An injury forced Huh to the sidelines all summer long, but his game log represents a player who wasted no time finding good form.

19th at TPC Summerlin, 48th in Houston, and 12th at the RSM Classic.

Carding just one bogey during his final 36 holes on Saint Simons Island has Huh firmly on my radar as one of the best Mayakoba Golf Classic DFS picks.

My 2020 Mayakoba Golf Classic DFS Lineup for GPPs

  • Abraham Ancer $9,900
  • Russell Henley $9,300
  • Joel Dahmen $8,000
  • Alex Noren $7,900
  • Doug Ghim $7,400
  • John Huh $7,400

Don’t be afraid to pass on the likes of JT, Koepka, and Finau. Instead, consider a Mayakoba Golf Classic DFS lineup that is anchored by Ancer and Henley at the top.

This way, instead of digging beneath $7k to fill up your roster, you can round out your squad with reliable pieces like Ghim and Huh.
