Daily Fantasy Basketball Sleepers For Thursday, January 23rd

NBA DFS Sleepers For Thursday, 1/23

The NBA schedule continues to be weird. After a big 12-game night, things cool down with just three games. That should help you prioritize things better if you want to bet on NBA games tonight, at least.

From a stud perspective, the Los Angeles Lakers guys will be worth paying up for (assuming one/both don’t rest after playing last night). You can also pay to use Luka Doncic or Damian Lillard, while Kyrie Irving (probable) going up against King James is must-see TV.

To get those pricey superstars, you’ll need to save some cash. Take a look at some of the best options to help you do that with my favorite NBA DFS value picks for 1/23:

Best NBA DFS Point Guard Sleepers

  • Darius Garland – Cleveland Cavaliers ($5.5k)
  • Anfernee Simons – Portland Trail Blazers ($4.5k)
  • Isaiah Thomas – Washington Wizards ($3.4k)

Darius Garland is the first value point guard to look at. He’s a good price for a guy who scores the ball pretty well, gets 30+ minutes per game and faces the Washington Wizards.

Isaiah Thomas is on the other side of what should be a pretty high-scoring affair. He’s pretty volatile, but he can still score the ball and happens to be super cheap.

I’ll slide somewhere in the middle with Anfernee Simons if at all possible, though. C.J. McCollum could be out again and if he is, Simons would have a nice role and well over 30 minutes to work with.

Top NBA DFS Shooting Guard Sleepers

  • Jordan McRae – Washington Wizards ($5k)
  • Tim Hardaway Jr. – Dallas Mavericks ($4.7k)
  • Joe Harris – Brooklyn Nets ($4.1k)

I’ll have interest in Bradley Beal tonight at a discounted price, assuming he actually plays. Given his injury history this year, of course, he’s on the short list of stars I could see resting.

Should Beal sit, McRae would vault to the top of my NBA DFS sleepers list. McRae has morphed into a proven scorer and averages 1.16 fantasy points per minute with Beal off the floor.

THJ still has a role and could be worth a roll of the dice, too. Just keep in mind that Kristaps Porzingis is back and Hardaway is forever risky.

Joe Harris is even cheaper, but you can double down on the risky aspect with him. Kyrie Irving is due back tonight, too, so I doubt his offensive role is all that large.

NBA DFS Small Forward Value Picks

  • Cedi Osman – Cleveland Cavaliers ($4.4k)
  • Trevor Ariza – Portland Trail Blazers ($3.5k)
  • Gary Trent Jr. – Portland Trail Blazers ($3.4k)

The Portland Trail Blazers have said that Trevor Ariza will be a key fixture of their starting five going forward. Probably.

If we’re to believe them, he’s suddenly way too cheap for the hammer game on this slate.

Gary Trent could still get plenty of run if McCollum remains out, too, but he’s a little shakier now than he has been in recent games.

Cedi Osman is a bit more expensive and no more reliable. I just mention him because he’s facing a terrible Wizards defense and compared to the other guys on this slate, he offers some value.

Best NBA DFS Power Forward Sleepers

  • Davis Bertans – Washington Wizards ($5k)
  • Maxi Kleber – Dallas Mavericks ($4.9k)
  • Kyle Kuzma – Los Angeles Lakers ($4.6k)

Whether Bradley Beal is in or not tonight, I have eyes for Davis Bertans. He came off the bench last night and has had a minutes cap, but he can get hot and he’s pretty cheap.

You can also look to Dallas spares like Maxi Kleber due to the horrible news that Mavs big man Dwight Powell is done for the year.

There’s also Kuz, who could get traded at any second, but is a potential smash play in the event The Brow takes a seat on the second leg of a back-to-back set.

Top NBA DFS Center Sleepers

  • Larry Nance – Cleveland Cavaliers ($5.1k)
  • Thomas Bryant – Washington Wizards ($4.7k)
  • Boban Marjanovic – Dallas Mavericks ($3.9k)

Speaking of that awful Powell injury, #FreeBoban should trend any minute now, as Dallas may be forced to hand their super-sized center some extra run.

Marjanovic is awkward as he runs up and down the floor, but he’s also a stat magnet. In 224 minutes with Powell off the floor, Boban has put up a staggering 1.30 fantasy points per minute average.

He’s my top value play tonight, assuming Rick Carlisle doesn’t banish him to the moon. Larry Nance is also on your radar given the rate Cleveland rests their bigs this year and Thomas Bryant is arguably a bit too cheap.

For now, tonight’s NBA DFS value hinges to injuries we’ve known about or that just popped up recently. If Beal and other studs sit, things could get a little complicated, though.

I think you need to pick one stud to spend on and move from there.

Mine is understandably Luka and I’ll toy with the idea of pairing him with Dame to close this slate out. How the point spreads work themselves out – and how ownership is projected – will both work together to decide things.

Whatever you do, hopefully these NBA DFS sleepers help you in some regard. Thanks for stopping by and good luck!
