Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks to Target for Wednesday, September 9, 2020

Best MLB DFS September 9, 2020

Another day, another chance to take down a daily fantasy baseball tournament. My MLB DFS stacks have been a little more miss than hit lately, but Wednesday brings a brand new opportunity to aim for the fences.

There are a few daily fantasy baseball stacks that stand out going into Wednesday’s 12-game MLB slate. Here’s a look at my favorites, and why they might have a shot at helping you take down a big GPP.

Milwaukee Brewers

Why, hello, Matthew Boyd. This game is admittedly not on the main slate, but you can target Brewers relentlessly on any MLB DFS showdown slates you stumble across.

Boyd is a good pitcher who can miss bats, but the guy has a bit of a home run problem (11 HR allowed this year).

This is obviously also a good spot for Boyd, who owns a nasty 29% K rate, and faces a Milwaukee offense that strikes out at a 24% clip.

That said, the Brewers still have one of the best hitters in baseball in Christian Yelich, as well as a sea of viable right-handed hitters. Boyd doesn’t like those (.341 wOBA, .239 ISO vs. R), while Milwaukee has eight able-bodied options that carry an ISO over .200 into this matchup.

Fire up your Brewers stacks, folks. Just be sure to have a healthy dose of Boyd lineups as a nice hedge.

Texas Rangers

This is another spot where the pitcher we’re trying to chase off the mound could easily stand his ground and have himself a day.

The arm in question here is Julio Teheran, and he’ll have one of the best matchups on the board as he takes on the Rangers in Texas.

This isn’t a scary lineup, but we can’t ignore the facts.

For one, Teheran hasn’t been a pitcher to fear in 2020. He owns a nasty 7.94 ERA, he’s struggled no matter the venue, and he’s allowed seven dingers in just five starts.

Teheran isn’t a terrible pitcher, but I don’t love the spot. Even in a park that has suppressed home runs in 2020, he has to face a sea of capable left-handed hitters. It starts with Joey Gallo (.269 ISO vs R), while Rougned Odor, Shin-Soo Choo, Ronald Guzman, and Anderson Tejeda, and Leody Taveras all hit from the left side and sport ISOs north of .200.

Texas has announced that they will begin resting some of their veteran players in a lost season, so keep that in mind.

That said, the lefties are appealing here, as Teheran (.332 wOBA, .194 ISO, 44% fly ball rate, and 42% hard hit rate) has had major issues against that side of the plate.

Los Angeles Dodgers

One of the most obvious MLB DFS stacks for Wednesday has to be the Dodgers. They’re in play in virtually any setting, but it’s hard not to love them against Taylore Clarke, who is probably due for an implosion.

Clarke has done a fine job in 2020, but he gets killed by both sides of the plate, and particularly has difficulty getting lefties out. His walk rate climbs by 4% on that side of the plate, while his whiff rate drops by 6%.

This isn’t ideal against L.A., who can wreck from both sides, but tend to make their living with a plethora of elite left-handers against right-handed pitchers.

Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager, Gavin Lux, Joc Pederson, and Max Muncy are the usual suspects, but you can toss in Mookie Betts and really any Dodgers tonight.

If the slate doesn’t demand it, I don’t try to force more MLB DFS stacks than I need to.

The Dodgers are probably my favorite stack on this slate, and in an effort to gain an edge, I’ll consider sprinkling in some Rangers in my lineups where it makes sense.

You can also turn to the Braves, Astros, White Sox, and Mets on the main slate, while stacking Milwaukee is probably going to be reserved for showdown contests.

Hopefully these MLB DFS stacks help you win on Wednesday. If you want to try your hand at the real thing, head over to the top baseball sportsbooks and use this insight to place some bets.
